The Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) Leader shall be responsible for developing and executing the AS9145 strategy for Collins Actuation.  With your support we shall identify opportunities to implement APQP on New product introduction, existing product and process improvements.  With your support we shall align the business to be ready to accept APQP in new contracts.  You will be the go-to expert and ensure program, product and process improvements are executed under strict quality requirements.  The role is reporting to the Operations Quality Director for Actuations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the vision & strategy for AS9145 within our internal operations and the supply chain.
  • Ensures Collins Actuation sites are compliant with AS9145.
  • Identify opportunities to implement AS9145.  Such as but not limited to: - Business proposals, New projects, retrospective APQP, APQP within the supply chain.
  • Work with the leadership team to identify and secure the appropriate resource and focus for APQP execution.
  • Develop the skill set of our organisation in terms of AS9145 and problem solving.  Develop and coach the team to maximise collective potential and create lasting change.
  • Set the direction and lead the resources to execute the strategy with a positive impact on the business goals.
  • Work with our international stakeholders to continually improve our Quality and business processes.
  • Provides guidance across the organization in the implementation of AS9145.
  • Owns the establishment and execution of short- to medium-term implementation plans.
  • Confidence to influence a range of leaders and employees across the different functions.
  • Ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.
  • Leads the identification and management of risk in product development, driving utilization of APQP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.).
  • Directs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and the development of recommendations for corrective actions
  • Display as organisational savvy, knows where to go to overcome barriers
  • Develop positive relationship based on trust with both internal and external customers

Qualification and experience

  • Requires a degree with significant or specialist experience and a thorough understanding of the Quality and APQP standards, processes, procedures, tools and techniques.
  • Practical experience of APQP and its tools with a track record of implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise of APQP requirements
  • Quality Management Systems qualifications
  • Has a thorough understanding of AS9100 / ISO9001 / AS9145 requirements and how they may be achieved through the Quality Management System.
  • Ideally holds CQI accreditation
  • Advanced Problem resolution techniques (I.e. Six Sigma, Red-X, etc)  

Relationships:

  • Strong links into with Quality, Supply Chain and Operations directors and leaders.  Role spans across multiple sites in Europe.

From time to time the successful candidate may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within the capabilities of the individual and where necessary training will be given.  Expected travel equates to roughly 35%.
