Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Acoustics and Aeromechanics Engineer with strong technical, problem solving, communication and leadership skills to join our Acoustics & Aeromechanics team within our Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) organization. The ATF organization is responsible for the functional aerodynamic design, analysis and performance of components and modules across all commercial and military product lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead aeromechanics/acoustics efforts as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, analyze, integrate, test, validate and deliver state of the art propulsion systems and technologies.
- Conduct modeling, analysis and simulation of flow-induced noise and vibration in gas turbines, including processing and physical interpretation of unsteady data, and drive design improvements through modeling and analysis.
- Conduct CFD based aeromechanical analysis. This also includes developing, applying, and enhancing design tools to characterize and improve the aeromechanical behavior of Pratt & Whitney engines.
- Work with internal and external customers to achieve program goals on time and within budget.
- Application of state-of-the-art aeromechanical analysis tools, developing modeling procedures and methodologies, processing and interpreting high frequency test data, coordination with aerodynamic and structural experts, interpretation, and presentation of results to technical community and management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field and 5+ years of experience in Acoustics, Unsteady Aerodynamics, or Aeromechanics, OR Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 3+ years of experience in Acoustics, Unsteady Aerodynamics, or Aeromechanics.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required at a Secret Level or Higher. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Less than 25% travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active U.S. government issued security clearance at a Secret Level or Higher.
- PhD with related research experience in Acoustics, Unsteady Aerodynamics, or Aeromechanics.
- Experience with CFD-based aeromechanical or acoustic analysis.
- Experience programming in MATLAB and experience with Linux OS.
- Prior experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
