We have an exciting opportunity for an Antenna Design Intern to join the Radome & Apertures section in McKinney, Texas. A successful candidate is one who can participate in a multi-disciplined team and properly apply electromagnetics engineering tools and processes.
The Radome & Apertures team resides within the Apertures and RF Department. The department is responsible for full-scope antenna product solutions, spanning architecture trades, design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of antenna systems and associated integrated system verification solutions. All interns will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects but will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals.
- This position is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Be responsible for the hands-on design and realization of individual antennas, phased array antennas and passive RF components.
- Use computational electromagnetic analysis software to design and predict performance on various types of antennas and apertures (spiral, sinuous, Vivaldi, patch, slot, horn, ultra-wideband tightly coupled dipole arrays, etc.)
- Integration and test of component level and system level phased array hardware
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Post-Graduate Technical Intern- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship
- "The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required."
- "U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance."
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.7+ cumulative GPA desired.
- Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO.
- Strong academic background that includes courses in: Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems
- Hands on experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An active SECRET clearance or higher.
