Job Summary:
The Effector RF & Communication (ERFC) Department is seeking talented engineers with the skills and passion to work on complex projects that shape antenna, radome, and antenna measurement system technology within the Company. The selected candidate will be contributing to diverse teams and executing tasks in various antenna and radome design life cycles. This is an entry-level Electrical Engineer position for an individual with educational experience and/or professional interest in the application of technical antenna principles, concepts, and techniques. A successful candidate is one with the skillset and passion required to solve complex engineering problems, properly apply engineering tools and processes, and leverage knowledge from previous coursework and projects.
All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects, and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.
This position is located in Tucson, AZ and is an on-site role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Development of antenna or radome hardware and requirements.
- Working with interdisciplinary engineering teams including thermal, structural, mechanical, systems, etc.
- Working with antenna manufacturing suppliers.
- Antenna modeling and simulation execution on workstations and high performance computing resources (HPC)
- Interpret simulation or measurement test data to verify performance to requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree.
- Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi and/or GRASP.
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ABET is the preferred, although not required accreditation standard.
- 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
- Solid background and practical understanding of designing GPS antenna systems (to include experience or relevant course work).
- Model generation and simulation experience with conformal antennas (to include experience or relevant course work).
- Proficiency with Python, MATLAB and/or other high level scientific programming languages
- Proficiency with high performance computing (HPC) environments and schedulers such as SLURM
- ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
