WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The High Voltage Test Engineer is part of the Test & Validation Pillar in the High Voltage Power Supply System (HV PSS) team. You will be responsible for carrying out testing work to sign off and certify the functional operation of the high-voltage powertrain system against the HVPSS Design Verification Plan. A key focus will be on the Battery Energy Module sub assembly (BEM) containing the battery management switching and controls.

As our Test Engineer, you will work in partnership with the Lead Engineers to ensure all aspects of the DVP are delivered as required to a high standard.

Day to day you will ensure tests are executed using correct hardware, to correct procedures & customer timing requirements as well as being responsible for HV Power up and commissioning of early prototype test properties.

You will be responsible for the delivery of testing and analysis to support the Design Verification Plan, including associated test planning, test case authoring and technical reporting to support programme gateways, as well as the design and assembly of break-out boxes and harnesses, custom test kit, extension harnesses, break out headers.

You will support continuous improvement activity including the creation and maintenance of JLR company standards relevant to the role (TPJLR / STJLR) and work in accordance with JLR Health & Safety policies to ensure tests are delivered safely and accurately.

You will also need to support relevant technical reviews and issue resolution through established processes and standard JLR tools (AIMS/8D) as well as functional status management for allocated systems, in support of overall DVP and engineering signoff.

Interface with customers of the department effectively. Lead interaction with customers and suppliers, resolving any conflicts and ensuring appropriate escalation of issues for resolution as necessary.

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

As a High Voltage Test Engineer you will have a strong understanding of automotive high voltage systems, including associated core operation and safety functions. You will have a natural technical curiosity & desire for depth of understanding. You will be a dynamic and determined individual who is highly driven, committed and displays a can do attitude.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

•Experience working on electrical test properties (HIL, Lab Cars, Test Vehicles), inclusive of HV test and measurement tools and methodologies. Additional usage of data capture and network analysis toolsets would be beneficial (Vector tool sets, INCA, Wireshark, diagnostic tools)

•Experience of dynamic problem-solving and quality tools applications, with a data-driven approach. Able to interpret and collate 3rd party vehicle and statistical data to contribute to issue diagnosis.

•Willingness to travel between local sites at short notice, taking a proactive response to problem solving, in accordance with business needs.

•Firm understanding of high-voltage automotive systems and their controls, features and functions.

•Strong communication and presentation skills, able to document and present data to a high standard that could be utilised for both internal and external customers to JLR
