This position will support the National Nuclear Security Administration Defense Programs, through system engineering and integration (SE&I) expertise.  We are looking for a Project Engineer-Digital Engineering that will develop and execute studies to support Systems Engineering and Integration activities. Including focus areas such as systems architecture analyses; technology development planning and evaluation; acquisition programmatic and technical development effectiveness analysis; requirements development and analysis; and risk assessments.  This will require the candidate to work collaboratively with program development and program execution staff to fully leverage the Aerospace Corporation's technical capabilities in relevant areas to best support the NNSA.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Albuquerque, NM or Crystal City, VA, offering a hybrid work model that requires 2-3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Apply knowledge of systems engineering processes, methods, MBSE tools, SysML and acquisition program development and oversight roles to research, architect, implement, and deploy Digital Engineering solutions for use on acquisition modernization programs and Enterprise decision support processes
  • Utilize Digital Engineering tools and platforms to analyze stakeholder and system requirements
  • Facilitate understanding and utilization of digital engineering solutions, and enhance the digital engineering culture
  • Develop Systems Engineering process models and change management processes/procedures for models
  • Conduct MBSE Modeling activities
  • Lead activities and collaborate and with internal technical support members and teams to develop optimized Digital Engineering solutions

What You Need to be Successful - [Project Engineer- Digital Engineering]

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related STEM field of study.
  • At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering elements and processes
  • Knowledge of lifecycle acquisition management elements and processes
  • Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Understanding of basic project leadership principles such as Schedule Performance Index/Cost Performance Index, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
  • Four years or more of experience in application of system engineering, risk management, quality, and management principles to achieve program success and MBSE application/implementation in systems engineering processes
  • Demonstrated capability to perform analysis and technical product delivery, as evidenced through examples of recent integrated work products
  • Willing to travel domestically approx. [10%]
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, or related field of study.
  • More than 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering
  • A formal degree in systems engineering and/or project management.
  • Proficiency in tools/programming such as Cameo, Unified Architecture Framework, MATLAB, MathWorks Simulink, Wind River, Simics, ExtendSim, Python
  • Demonstrated leadership and teaming skills in tasks such as formulating enterprise level solutions, executing and leading studies, collaborating with diverse teams to create holistic solutions through application of MBSE tools and methods.
  • Hold a current Top Secret clearance
