JR10228461 System Engineer FCAS Optical Comms (d/f/m) (d/f/m)

Mission of the Job

  • Propose and develop methods and strategies for FCAS activities in the area of optical communications.

  • Work tightly integrated inside an Agile Team, interacting not only within Airbus but also with international partners.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Propose and develop novel methods for the orchestration of free-space optical comms terminals operation in a meshed network scenario.

  • The proposed novel orchestration approaches are to optimize metrics such as delay, BER/FER, network availability and overall network throughput.

  • Design, develop and integrate a simulation environment to evaluate and trade-off the proposed approaches.

  • Definition of, and contributions to, potential demonstrators towards the customer, for presentation of continuous and progressive work results.

  • System Engineering based on DOORS and CAMEO.

  • Analysis of operational requirements, derivation and validation of functional requirements.

  • Creation of, and contributions to, project deliverables documentation.

  • Opportunities to propose and lead new high-risk ideas.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Educated degree level in Communication Systems, Optical Communications, Networking or equivalent

  • Agile project management frameworks (Scrum, SAFe)

  • Several years of experience in aerospace or telecommunication industry.

  • Experience of working on multinational projects.

  • Experience in System Modelling/Simulation using Matlab/C++/Python, and/or in implementation of optical communications chain for demos/products.

  • Specific knowledge and experience with of free-space optical comms systems, protocols and operations would be strongly beneficial.

  • Experience with communication protocols including quality of service aspects, routing, control, and knowledge of networks layered modelling would be strongly beneficial.

  • Telecommunication system analysis and dimensioning would be a plus.

  • Knowledge of Optical Communication Systems with understanding of their operations and Military operational background would be a plus.

  • Object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C++, Python), Matlab/Simulink for communication system modelling

  • MBSE Tools (DOORS and CAMEO) are a plus

  • Advanced English and German required
