The Accessories team within Vehicle Programs is looking for a Structural Engineer to focus on the future development of technologies, complex systems, methods and tools including research to create robust commodity strategies to deploy into accessories vehicle programmes. This role sits within the off-cycle space of the Structural Accessories CoC.

 

In your role, you’ll work with different teams/ stakeholders such as External commodity suppliers, Body Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Creative, House of Brands, Manufacturing and Service / Dealership teams to identify future trends and opportunities to support commodity strategy creation and document creation and maintenance to timing targets.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Develop and maintain of off-cycle foundation documents e.g. DFMEA, Bills of Design, Standards, Requirements, Design Rules.
  • Support development of commodity strategies.
  • Deployment of commodity strategy to achieve concept ready/application ready status for inclusion into vehicle programmes.
  • Support warranty investigations where required.
  • Contribute to the delivery of commodity targets specifically for quality, cost and time.
  • Work with and support a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate commodity concepts, features and alternatives to support production releases.
  • Collaborate with departmental subject matter experts to ensure the latest automotive technologies and processes are understood and considered for future strategies.
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders. 
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Understanding of automotive mechatronic systems. 
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools.
  • Experience of developing and delivering technical systems.
  • Sound first principles knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Comprehensive MS office skills.
