Aerospace’s Software Engineering Subdivision plays a key role in helping our customer realize and transition industry-leading solutions by delivering software development prototypes, cloud-based solutions, and methodologies for our Civilian, DoD, and Intelligence community partners.

We are seeking a Section Manager (Manager - Software Architecture Engineering and Cloud Computing Architecture) for the Software Tools and Integration section of the Software Tools and Assurance Department. This person will work directly with our internal and external customers to integrate diverse Aerospace knowledge and leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. The Section Manager will lead and manage an impactful team of software developers proficient in all areas related to software development. More specifically, this individual will be managing a team providing tool evaluation of Open Source and COTS offerings, analysis of alternatives, prototyping efforts, guidance regarding Agile and DevSecOps processes, and the development or migration of applications targeting cloud infrastructure. The extensive use of the latest software stacks and virtualization technologies will be key in supporting these activities.

This position is predominately onsite in El Segundo, CA with a hybrid work model that supports some remote work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work with the Director in establishing Department’s objectives and goals and communicate them to staff, management, and interfacing matrix organizations
  • Supports the overall direction to department’s technical programs and ensures department’s capabilities are effectively applied to needs of customers programs
  • Assign and coordinate work activities within organization, monitor workload, progress, and schedules
  • Participate as part of Software Engineering Subdivision (SES) management team in determining organization’s structure and staffing
  • Participates in budget planning and allocation of resources to meet needs of the department and larger subdivision
  • Seek and identify new opportunities for the department and coordinate with higher management to prioritize new pursuits consistent with corporate practices, goals, and objectives
  • Hire, mentor, and develop staff in collaboration with leadership and the immediate management chain to guide employee career progression
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and recommend performance improvement goals, career development, salary, and promotion actions; establishes staffing needs and recommends reassignments, training, transfers, and other staff deployments; assists other supervisors in evaluation, mentoring, and assignment of staff
  • Engaging in matrix support planning at the Subdivision level to ensure skills are available to meet customer needs
  • Cooperate and frequently communicate with customer, building reciprocal working relationships with diverse associates across Aerospace and customer base
  • Understand the drivers of change and actively contribute to adaptations at the local/team level
  • Be able to identify roadblocks and modify existing approaches to achieve greater efficiency and effectivity

What You Need to be Successful - Manager - Software Architecture Engineering and Cloud Computing Architecture

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related technical field.
  • 8 or more years of industry work experience.
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in software development and experience as a technical lead
  • Ability to form and lead technical analysis teams and scope projects
  • Familiarity with National Security Space systems, Department of Defense, civil, commercial space systems, or advanced space technologies
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Track record demonstrating the ability to build an environment of teamwork and develop/grow an organization by providing consistent mentoring, coaching, and training opportunities
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interactions at all organizational levels
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution
  • Familiarity in multiple areas associated with National Security Space systems, Department of Defense, civil, commercial space systems, and advanced space technologies
  • Familiarity with satellite ground systems, operations, and launch
  • Familiarity with the software development methodologies and cloud frameworks at the enterprise level
  • Experience with and understanding of Aerospace and customer business processes
  • Experience working with the Aerospace Engineering matrix

  • Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
