Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking multiple Software Engineers to join the BCA Interiors Software Certification team located in Everett, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) business organization.

The selected individuals will interface with suppliers and internal Boeing organizations to oversee development of new software and updates, ensure application of industry standards and Boeing requirements, and assure certification/compliance with FAA regulatory requirements RTCA’s DO-178B/C specifications.

The software engineer is expected to apply the guidelines from DO-178B/C to software development projects, in order to support compliance and certification activities. The documentation reviews for this role range from requirement, design, test, quality plan reviews to test automation reviews and problem report reviews.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee suppliers’ software development for airborne systems.
  • Review and approve suppliers’ software lifecycle data (i.e. software architect, software design document, software requirement document) throughout software lifecycle processes; from planning, requirements, development/implementation, verification and certification phases
  • Provide software technical expertise and guidance in assisting suppliers designing software and products to meet FAA regulations.
  • Perform software integration test and evaluation to ensure software functionality met Boeing’s requirements.
  • Provide showing of compliance roles in accordance with FAA regulations associated with software development
  • Assist in stage of involvement (SOI) reviews/audits, as well as Requirements Reviews, Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews
  • Evaluate technical and/or schedule risks and opportunities to mitigate risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and supply chain personnel
  • Work collaboratively with Boeing’s Equipment Manager and suppliers to ensure that each system operates as designed and free of safety issues and quality problems
  • Manage software development milestones and performance metrics to track and meet product schedules
  • Review and disposition problem reports written by Systems Engineers and Suppliers
  • Provide software inputs to certification plans and summaries to support compliance findings

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years’ experience in software development involved in full software lifecycle development
  • Familiar with software project management methodologies (i.e. Agile, waterfall)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages: Java, C++, and Python
  • Experienced with working with customers or suppliers engagement.
  • Experienced with software user acceptance test processes, software integration test, test plan, requirements and results tracing.
  • Knowledge of the DO-178C (or equivalent) lifecycle is a plus

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Experienced (level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master’s degree +3 years’ related work experience).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Senior (level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD +4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Associate: $90,950.00 - $123,050.00

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $112,200.00 - $151,800.00

Summary pay range for Senior:  $130,900 - $177,100
