Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Philippines office full time.

The Role

Safety Officer 3 leads implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and GM Global Workplace Safety System of GM Philippines, Inc.; the Facilities Lead supports the Site Strategy Lead in managing services that helps GBS Manila do its work.

What You'll Do

As Safety Officer 3:

  • Lead the GM Philippines Inc. Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee and Safety Review Board (SRB) and ensure compliance with GM Global Workplace Safety System, R.A. 11058 and related standards
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate safety plans, practices, rules, procedures, standards, and OSH personnel and facilities to assess risk and adherence to general health and safety of the company to regulatory requirements of Government agencies (e.g.  Bureau of Working Condition - DOLE) and GM Global Safety
  • Monitor compliance to various Government statutory regulations and GM Global Safety requirements
  • Prepare OSH reports and permits and submit to DOLE such as Employer’s Work Accident Injury Report (WAIR), Annual Accident/Injury Exposure Data Report (AEDR), Annual Medical Report (AMR), OSH Committee Quarterly Report, including SRB Reports for GM Global Safety Management
  • Evaluate working conditions and work safe practices and enforce policies and programs to establish a culture of health, environment, safety and security in the workplace
  • Review, analyze and investigate any hazards, injury, accident/incident reports, near misses, loss or damage to property, and prescribe corrective and preventive action without undue delay
  • Perform mandatory OSH workers’ training and seminar to all GM employees such as Occupational Health and Safety Programs, Fire Safety, Accident Prevention, Electrical Safety, Loss Control Management. Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC)
  • Conduct routine day-to-day environmental, health, and safety and security compliance audit in the workplace to check performance with the established safety programs and to draw management attention for any non-conformance and non-compliance
  • Conduct monthly Safety Tours and Safety Conversation to obtain feedback from employees, and address any concerns if any
  • Attend and address all safety concerns of the company

 

As Facilities Lead:

  • Manage site related services including housekeeping, maintenance, grounds and security, clinic, front desk, technical etc.
  • Supervise muti-disciplinary teams of staff including housekeeping, maintenance, grounds and security, clinic, front desk including outsourced services/contractors
  • Monitor timely completion of company’s equipment preventive maintenance
  • Ensure that basic facilities and supplies such as water, air conditioning, lighting are well-maintained and complete
  • Liase with building PMO for any items managed by the landlord
  • Manage facilities budget and continue to identify cost-efficiency
  • Ensure facilities meet government requirements and environmental, health and security standards
  • Oversee projects, renovations or refurbishments
  • Draft reports and make written recommendations
  • Address employee concerns/feedback timely with appropriate communication
  • Other administrative work as assigned by the Site Strategy Lead

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Graduate of Bachelor’s degree in any field, preferably in Engineering, Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or its equivalent
  • Eligible Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practitioner as Safety Officer 3 (SO3) duly certified and accredited by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 
  • With at least two (2) years relevant experience in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)  for Non-Manufacturing environment as prescribed by DOLE
  • Has completed the mandatory 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) certification and additional 48-hour advanced/specialized occupational safety training course relevant to the industry
  • Has taken First Aid Training and Certificate of Attendance and Proficiency from the Philippines National Red Cross (PNRC)
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in preparing DOLE mandatory OSH reports and permits, including provisions of penalties for OSH company policy violations
  • Knowledgeable in managing disaster resilience, recovery and rescue management, emergency response and drills, emergency preparedness, Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, safety signages and precautions
  • Willing to do fieldwork, attend OSH required trainings, and spearhead GM Safety Review Board meetings
  • Knowledgeable with basic facilities management activities such as but not limited to scheduling of Preventive Maintenance, budgeting of facilities costs, execution of facilities projects, managing people, etc.
  • Must be willing to be onsite DAILY from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
