WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The role is to lead the development of the next generation Rear Wheel Steering (RWS) system for in flight as well as future programmes, covering all aspects of design and delivery including system architecture, requirements, implementation and verification and validation in line with the Programme Milestones (PCDS v4) and relevant quality standards (KWS12.13, ASPICE). The RWS product owner will be responsible for technical leadership of a number of system engineers and oversight of the sub-system and software teams, in order to report status and create system releases for stakeholders.

 

This role offers opportunity to work on the next generation of JLR platforms with exposure to both hybrid and battery vehicles across a range of vehicle variants, utilising the experience and learning from the recently delivered RWS systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain a system integration plan in line with system engineering best practices within an agile framework, and reporting progress accordingly.
  • Technical leadership of system team, including delegation of work and reviewing and reporting of progress.
  • Leading the definition of system design, architecture and requirements within all relevant standards and technical/ project constraints.
  • Generating technical evidence and delivering all required system documentation at logical and implementation levels.
  • Own the Product Backlog, ensuring it is transparent, visible and understood - Creation of the short-, medium- and long-term product roadmap as well as be involved in group agile events e.g. squad sprint planning, showcases and backlog refinement
  • Liaison with system stakeholders throughout the project, including eliciting and cascading requirements.
  • Identifying requirements for cascade to elements beyond the control system boundary (e.g. sensors, electrical architecture, network requirement, ECU base software etc).
  • Generating and delivering a sufficient diagnostics strategy for the system.
  • Take account of manufacturing processes and validating the readiness to build throughout the project

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • Experienced in Systems Engineering design, preferably with a chassis related product.
  • Prior experience of delivering safety critical systems in accordance with a quality management process.
  • Able to work effectively with a diverse team across different sites and test locations.
  • Competent to create work plans, co-ordinate tasks across team members, track progress, review and report status.
  • An understanding of vehicle network communications, ECUs and electronics.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety and Cyber Security tools and processes.
  • Systematic problem-solving abilities to support on vehicle diagnostic work.
  • An understanding of Chassis Control systems and their influence on vehicle dynamic  behaviour.
