We are looking for a Public Affairs Manager & Advisor to the UK Chairman to join our  Strategy, M&A and Public Affairs department, working closely with a high performing team and senior internal stakeholders whilst being integral in the business' relationship with central government.

Reporting directly to the Head of UK Public Affairs you will be responsible for conceiving, leading and delivering their strategic engagement with Ministers, senior officials, the media (with Communications), business leaders, Parliamentarians and other key partners (40% of the role).

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM 

  • Working closely with the Head of Public Affairs UK and the Brussels office, you will lead on analysing opportunities and challenges arising from any regulatory divergence between UK and EU and devise and lead a prioritised engagement strategy drawing on the breadth of expertise across the business

  • Under the leadership of the Head of Public Affairs UK, you will be responsible for fostering and deepening our strategic relationship with the centre of Government, focusing on our security, cyber, space, wider emerging technologies and UK export objectives in particular

  • Alongside other members of the Airbus Public Affairs team, you will align with broader political contact programmes, events such as air shows, conferences and other high profile activities

  • Drawing on your wide network, political nouse, experience and deep knowledge of Government, conceiving, leading and delivering a highly effective UK engagement plan for the Chairman covering aerospace, space, defence, helicopters, technology, manufacturing and air transport policy for Airbus in the UK. You will do so through sound project planning and risk management

  • In conjunction with your Airbus Communications colleagues, advising the UK Chairman on appropriate events, lectures and media opportunities to raise the profile of Airbus UK

  • Conceive, lead and manage a new programme of work on opportunities and challenges for the business of regulatory divergence between the UK and EU. This will involve close collaboration with Airbus Brussels, Strategy teams in Toulouse, deep analysis of Commission and UK legislative plans and a clear understanding of key global business objectives

  • Drawing on a close understanding of the Government’s Integrated Review objectives, you will lead and manage a new programme of work focused on our space, security, cyber and wider emerging technologies priorities

  • Effectively represent Airbus on trade bodies and/or other industry groupings and act as an Ambassador for Airbus UK into wider Airbus

  • Detailed analysis and understanding of evolving Government priorities and the ability to distil and communicate these to our Executive Team

  • Prepare ad-hoc pieces of policy work / parliamentary reports as necessary

  • Play an active, creative part in shaping key events such as the Farnborough Airshow, RIAT and Party conferences and supporting wide engagement with Ministers, Parliamentarians, industry partners and wider stakeholders

ABOUT YOU

  • Professional experience in policy development and/or public affairs and a passion for domestic and global politics

  • Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary decision-making and experience of working on the UK’s domestic and international growth agendas with extensive networks into Whitehall, Westminster, think-tanks etc

  • Passionate about innovation driven business, skills development and the relationship between business and Government

  • Understanding of complex, highly technical detail and the ability to distil and simplify it for internal and external audiences

  • You will be able to demonstrate integrity and an ability to promote the company’s reputation, position and profile to key external audiences. 

  • You will champion a high degree of trust, motivation and initiative
