Workplace Status:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Team:

General Motors is at the forefront of the transformation of automotive with the electrification of our portfolio and the development of leading-edge central compute and autonomous capabilities. Our Embedded Platforms Infrastructure System Engineering team is a dynamic, high-energy, and innovative group focused on designing the software platform that underpins our electronics architecture including safety, communications, cybersecurity, memory, programming, and power management functions across our vehicle portfolio.

The Role:

We are seeking a high-performing Project Manager passionate about coordinating a team consisting of system and software engineers designing and deploying the Software Defined Vehicle 2.0 infrastructure.  This individual will be depended on to build strong connections with internal and external partners.

The selected individual will be expected to actively expand the boundaries of innovation, learn quickly, proactively pursue resolving systemic issues of prior architectures, and define the execution path in a quickly changing environment. They will be counted on to provide thought and team leadership, facilitate communication, and inspire passion.

What You'll Do:

  • Developing project plans for system engineering deliverables.
  • Manage execution of system and software engineering deliverables to project milestones.
  • Understand design and development task dependencies for robust planning.
  • Prioritize project execution plans based on conflicting priorities and needs.
  • Lead department’s business process reviews.
  • Tracking progress and communicating project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identifying and managing project risks on a weekly basis.
  • Facilitating wall reviews, problem solving teams, emerging issue concerns.
  • Ensuring deliverables are met with defined quality standards on time.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors degree in Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in electronics/software design and development.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
  • Strong experience driving business case driven technical solution decisions for broad organization.
  • Knowledge of program management tools (Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Knowledge of software validation process.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advanced degree in Business, Electrical/Software/Computer Engineering/Science.
  • Experience with software project management or program management.
  • Knowledge in computer networking protocols, architecture & communications.
  • Experience with network simulation and analysis tools, programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python), and software development for embedded systems.
  • Strong comprehension of automotive software development, architecture and AUTOSAR ethernet stack, experience with software bring-up.
