Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing X-66 Program is seeking a Product Lifecycle Engineering Manager to lead a team of Configuration Management, Program Integration Engineers, and Specialty Engineers. X-66 Specialty Engineering disciplines include Vibration, Cybersecurity, Human Systems Integration, and Electromagnetic Effects.  This team mitigates cross-functional technical issues across the Program, including Engineering, Safety and Build issues.

This position will have abundant opportunities to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and deliver innovative solutions to complex technical problems with high leadership visibility.

NASA and Boeing have collaborated to develop the X-66, which is an experimental aircraft designed to help the United States achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The aircraft will have long, thin wings with a set of aerodynamic trusses for support, known as a Transonic Truss-Braced Wing. The X-66 is the first X-plane specifically focused on helping the United States achieve the goal of net-zero aviation greenhouse gas emissions.

We are a geographical distributed organization looking for innovative, passionate and highly collaborative teammates to help us dive into the design architecture and conduct safety activities to ensure system safety, quality, integrity, and mission success. The role is based in Everett, Washington, with expected travel to multiple sites as required.

This position involves staffing and directing a technical team in establishing group goals, managing budgets, monitoring group performance against program and functional commitments, and developing technical employees within the group.  Previous Development, Design and MOD engineering experience is advantages. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects, development issues, and requirements 
  • Interface with BCA, BR&T, NASA, and BT&E
  • Fast paced and requires significant airplane level knowledge
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, collaborators, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, electrical/electronics, aerospace, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • 5+ years experience in Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in technical leadership
  • 3+ years experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in a managerial or team lead role
  • Strong decision making, problem solving and organization skills
  • Experience motivating employees and assisting in their development
  • Accept direction and work with others toward shared goals; capable of multi-tasking while working in a dynamic organization with a diverse workforce
  • Lean+ knowledge, leadership and experience are highly valued
  • Cross engineering discipline experience and knowledge is highly desired
  • Interface successfully with different disciplines, suppliers and other functions within Boeing
  • Obtain the appropriate level of management support for quick issue resolution
  • Excellent people skills and possess a working-together attitude

Summary pay range: $138,550 – $187,450
