Principal Solution Architect at Autodesk 

Join our team at Autodesk as a Senior Solution Architect, where you will be a technical subject matter expert with experience in automating technical/functional Autodesk solutions that create competitive advantage for companies in the industry space. You’ll work with our customers’ leadership teams to architect solutions with specifications that can be traced to business strategy and success metrics. 

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will be a technical subject matter expert with experience in automating technical/functional Autodesk Manufacturing solutions that create competitive advantage for companies in the industry space. You’ll work with our customers’ leadership teams to design solutions with specifications that can be traced to business strategy and success metrics. 

Employing industry standard methodologies and frameworks, you’ll lead a team to build solutions to provide help our customers achieve their our goals.  These solutions will automate their business processes and workflows, help them make their data a strategic asset and, find insights and efficiencies using AI and ML. You will help educate customers create a clear vision on future business capabilities, advise them on main architecture considerations, and inform them on implantation strategies and plans including estimating effort and resources required. You will help customer define a clear path to develop, integrate, and deploy new solutions. 

You will report to a manager who leads a team of Solution Architects. You will work closely with a team of Solution Architects collaborating to improve the teams’ capabilities and to ensure customer success. You will also work with a team of technical consultants who will implement our solutions.  You will be asked to work with sales teams defining strategies that will lead to better outcomes for Autodesk and for our customers. You will work in a remote setting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Define and validate Software and IT System architecture by evaluating and translating customer business needs. 
  • Design Data Architectures that support data definition, data management, data integration, and use of AI Models. 
  • Create a path to develop Autodesk solutions into enterprise. 
  • Stay informed about technology trends ( inspiring) affecting our customers. 
  • Understand data pipelines including data cleansing and data mining to promote efficient enterprise data flow and allow ML and AI Solutions. 
  • Understand best practices for document lifecycles and engineering change management. 
  • Elicit input from your team for arriving at the best possible solution and present feedback back to the your team about solution impact. 
  • Educate and highlight important architecture considerations to implement the solution. 
  • Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements for the solution. 
  • Act as a liaison between customer IT and Business stakeholders within the scope of the solution. 
  • Actively help customers plan for and execute organizational change management. 
  • Be an effective voice of Autodesk solutions in various outlets such as conferences, whitepapers, and blogs. 
  • Act as a “Trusted Advisor” providing technical and thought leadership to the customer to guide them to success for current and future business needs. 
  • Evaluate design approaches, make architectural recommendations, and implement improvements to adoption strategies. 
  • Develop “reference architectures” and promote re-use in implementing Autodesk technologies. 
  • Lead and Mentor developers and 3rd party consultants, work with project mangers and project sponsors. 
  • Collaborate with and coach team members as we collectively try to improve and grow in our profession and impact. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field. 
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a relevant BS degree, or 8+ years with an advanced degree. 

Skills Requirements: 

  • Understanding of Manufacturing tools including CAD, PDM, and PLM. 
  • Database Knowledge: In-depth understanding of database principles including relational, No SQL, and Graph databases. 
  • Experience working on large-scale, customer-facing, web and cloud applications. 
  • You have implemented applications in Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google. 
  • Create end-to-end AI architectures that meet our requirements. 
  • Practical experience building or integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL web services. 
  • Travel up to 50% when company policy allows 
  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark. 
  • Data Warehousing and ETL/ELT: Understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT tools. 
  • Knowledge of languages such as Python, R, or Julia for data analysis and model development. 
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. 
  • Data Visualization: Familiarity with data visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $118,200 and $191,290. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
