Moon Missions System Engineer (d/f/m)

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Take responsibility as lead systems engineer / chief engineer on Moon projects, programmes.

  • Manage and lead all activities required to meet overall system design and major constituents’ integration needs for new programmes.

  • Perform trade-off analysis in order to select the best overall vehicle and system architecture fulfilling system/product requirements.

  • ​Define the top level technical objectives and requirements to steer a robust launch of a new programme.

  • Ensure future products and concepts convergence

  • Ensure interface & integration of Engineering activities

  • Explore technical, manufacturing & operational aspects , this includes the capability to assess value & cost benefit

  • Support analysis of competitor’s products, at Spacecraft and/or Vehicle & Components level, for the benefit of Strategy, Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Technology functions.

  • Develop knowledge and propose directions on environmental aspects.

  • Align engineering tasks with internal technology development programmes

  • Support proposal activities from initial contact to successful contract signature

  • Represent the technical aspects of the programmes internally and externally

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Master degree within Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or similar field of study

  • Experience in aerospace and in working with ESA and NASA highly appreciated

  • Ability to lead  a large multi-national team organization in a complex project environment

  • Strong experience in mission and safety critical applications

  • Work style characterized by autonomy, initiative, cooperation collaboration

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and social competence

  • Business fluent in English and German
