MDS Operational and Functional Support

Job Description:

We have a fantastic opportunity to join TDBPM inside the DIGITAL organization and work close with the A400M customer. TDBPM develops MDS (Maintenance Data System), the Maintenance, Configuration, Planning and Daily Operations tracking tool deployed within A400M’s Operators premises. TDBPM is in charge of delivering the expertise gathered after years of working together with the nations and support new customers and industry for a total alignment with MDS.

The following paragraphs detail activities performed in TDBPM that may be performed by the applicant:

  • Entry Into Service and continuous support

A key activity when working with customer is the EIS (Entry Into Service) and continuous support. Provide guidance to the customer since the beginning of the use of MDS and helping them (or directly develop) the procedures where customer will base all their maintenance has been proved a key activity to have a smooth EIS. For most of the customers A400M is a big change as they come (generally) from older A/Cs. It can be also necessary to provide On the Job Training based in the procedures developed.

  • MDS Training

Providing either On the Job training or formal training to customers, industry or suppliers, from a global overview of the tool to detailed or customized training according to nations requirements.

  • MDS Evolution

Supporting MDS development in the requirements gathering, definition and validation of the MDS versions before they are delivered to the customer including tasks such as:

  • To liaise with the customer in requirements gathering and operational scenario working in the preparation and attendance to requirements clarification sessions and formalizing results in a business requirement document.
  • To liaise with technical experts (IT system architects, software architects and software development experts) in the definition of workable solutions that meet the customer needs and at the same time fit within the technical constraints of the systems.
  • To study regulations to be fulfilled and transform them in a set of functional requirements.
  • To agree/apply interface definition documents with other systems/organizations as well as A/C related specifications (systems, A/C files) to be taken in account in the design of the ground support system.
  • To write down detailed validation scenarios to ensure adequate end-to-end validation of the implemented solution.
  • To prepare and conduct design and implementation reviews with the customer in order to gather feedback on the correctness of the solution.
  • To carry out early validation of the product, and eventually to prioritize tasks to ensure that the best achievable software product is obtained.
  • To carry out and record formal validation activities on the final product to ensure correctness of the solution, detect bugs/malfunctions, raise limitations and identify possible mitigations.
  • To write qualification tests procedures, traceable with the contract requirements.
  • To support or conduct product qualification activities with the customer.
  • In Service Support

Ensuring operational issues are fully understood and appropriate solutions/mitigations are provided in a customized way for each Operator.

  • Identification of new opportunities

Taking advantage of the direct contact with the customer and the collaboration with other departments.

  • MDS & Industry

Connecting with other internal departments to get feedback and adapt MDS and procedures to Customer & Industry needs.

  • Project Management

PMO, planning and risk management. Integrated planning and reporting, liaising with program office and customer.

The job comes with the necessity to have availability to travel as knowledge of the customers and their environment is key. TDBPM’s personnel has been present in Turkey, Malaysia, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and we are currently planning the activities to be performed with new A400M customers: Kazakhstan and Indonesia.

Professional skills

The post holder shall have a proven track record in the delivery of in-service support, with demonstrable experience in the following disciplines:

  • Aeronautical/Industrial/Telecommunications Engineering Degree
  • 1+ year working with MDS.
  • 6+ months working in customer premises.
  • Negotiation level of English and Spanish (mandatory).
  • Travel availability is required.
  • Software design and development background (unified modelling language, relational database design; object-oriented programming; java and web technologies) (optional).
