Surface Material - Let's introduce ourselves
Surface Material within Vehicle Engineering at Volvo Cars is responsible for developing all interior surface materials in our cars. We use our expertise to create premium andsustainable materials for ourcustomerswellbeingand desire. Togetherwe challenge each other to develop and usenext generation technologies, both in early strategic phase, concept phase as well as implementing into new car programs.

Now we are looking for an engaged team member with experience of working with material development and that have surface material knowledge, mainly in the program implementation phase.
We need a Material Developer that mainly will develop Surface Materials for seating application such as upholstery materials, door insert materials and for small parts applications.
What you'll do
As a Material Developer within Surface Material implementation, you will have the responsibility to quality assure and finalize the development of the materials in our new programs. In the industrialization phase you will lead and have the ownership of time and technique within the specific area.

This role is working close together with the component development teams, design, procurement and our material suppliers.

Your main tasks will be:

Lead and drive quality assurance and have responsibility for time plans, technique and cost for your developments within our new car programs
Lead and drive color and material development for your developments to reach correct appearance and haptic
Develop and release of physical masters
Work together in cross-functional teams, cooperating with component engineers, CMF designers, procurement, material lab
Continual contact and cooperation with suppliers within your area
Constantly work with continuous improvement, developing our processes and our way of work

What you'll bring
Competence and experience is important as well as personality! As a member in our team, you must be motivated and self-propelled with a curious and flexible mindset. You need a high level of communication and presentation skills, and you take pride in delivering on time. The complexity is high, so you have to be analytic and structured and have a good sense for creating and following technical logical plans. You enjoy working in collaboration with others and you actively participate in the team’s daily work by leading, coaching and supporting your colleagues. Since you will work in a global setup, we expect you to be fluent in English.

To be successful in this role we believe you have:

A University degree, preferably within Material Design Engineering
Relevant work-life experience from the automotive area
Knowledge and experience within Team Center and Planisware (or similar systems)
A good color sight/vision

And it’s a bonus if you have:
