JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for providing direct interface to customers, suppliers, and product engineering organization. Develop and implement door panel related processes, methods, tools, equipment, and controls for the manufacturer of products and components consistent with obtaining and maintaining design integrity, optimum costs, quality, inventories, and investment in facilities. Activities will include all aspects of prototype development and builds. Actively apply new manufacturing technologies and aggressively evaluates and report on manufacturing opportunities which will contribute to the JIT plant’s objectives and goals. Participate in the product design activity to assure optimum productivity and costs, suggest alternative designs, materials, or processes, and resolve all problems while maintaining good rapport with customers. Maintain effective communications with all people affected by projects and issues operating instructions when required, issue periodic status reports to keep affected personnel informed. Prepare manufacturing studies to determine optimum manufacturing costs, quality, and inventories, and/or evaluate feasibility for new or existing products, processes or materials. Recommend changes for the most practical and economical manufacturing processes, including material, labor, tooling, equipment, and ancillary factors. Participate in selecting, approving, and developing tooling and equipment to satisfy manufacturing requirements and product design intent. Provide customer liaison as relates to product design and engineering matters. Coordinate new processes implementation and training. Ensure that all relevant tooling is capable of making required product to meet all timing goals. Serve as a resource person to process changes, problem-solving committee, etc., to ensure product design intent is not jeopardized. Act as the champion of the Pre-Launch Team of all new programs, issuing minutes of the meetings, maintaining and issuing the status of all required reports of new programs (e.g., A.Q.P. checklist, issues list, and feasibility assessments), and create and maintain new program review documentation. Research and implement state-of-the-art technology to ensure that product design is manufactured in the most capable/cost-effective manner possible and ensure that product design allow for these state-of-the-art technologies. Work closely with lean manufacturing matrix teams to ensure key measures meet or exceed world-class standards, such as quick tool change, press utilization, die performance, O-PPM, scrap and off-fall reduction, minimization of indirect labor to increase productivity and efficiency, lean manufacturing implementation, and Six Sigma projects. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, perform ergonomic risk assessment for all cells to ensure safe work envelop, and perform Cpk analysis for applicable products and torque equipment’s.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 1 year of experience as Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or a related role. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) AutoCAD; (2) Line Balancing; (3) PFMEA; and (4) Lean Manufacturing.

RATE OF PAY: $71,968.00 – $74,088.00 / year
