Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS) are seeking to recruit an additional Management Accountant. The Management Accountant is responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, especially around month end to aid and drive business decisions.

The Management Accountant is responsible for supervising the Accounts Payable team. 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Management Accountant ensures that the month end process runs smoothly by supporting other members of the team with regards to month end tasks.  Completion of these tasks will enable the timely turnaround of month end results.

The Management Accountant provides support in the year end process including taking a lead role in the year end audit.

The Management Accountant assists with the collation of timesheet information for Payroll each month.

The Management Accountant provides key insight to the business performance by looking at current financial information and non-financial data to determine the position of the business.  This information will be used by senior management to make short term decisions and develop strategies for long term growth.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will work closely with senior finance staff to deliver accurate and efficient reporting, with oversight of the maintenance of the purchase ledger to ensure invoices and payments are processed in a timely manner. 

The role is responsible for the supervision of the Accounts Payable team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares accurate and timely month end results, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Prepares external reporting (Office of National Statistics surveys etc)
  • Prepares VAT returns
  • Prepares balance sheet reconciliations
  • Controls the accuracy of the accounts payable function
  • Assists with the year-end process
  • Takes a lead role with financial audits
  • Prepares Intercompany reporting
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the company
  • Provides support to additional areas within the business when needed
  • Any other ad hoc duties appropriate to the role

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Essential: CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience working with non-finance professionals
  • IFS system experience will be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of tax would be desirable

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details and high competency in data analysis using Excel and other reporting tools
  • Methodical and systematic mindset
