Intern for the creation of a radar coverage map simulator in Unreal Engine (d/f/m)

You will be developing a radar coverage map simulator in Unreal engine. The general procedure is thereby already given from a previous implementation using Unity. The implementation will require the loading of DTED data, map mesh creation, developing a ray marcher as a compute shader and adding the radar effects (attenuation, refraction, Fresnel-zone dampening and knife-edge-diffraction).

The goal is to evaluate the usage of the Unreal engine for the given task.

In our field we define, develop, integrate, qualify and maintain smart BMC4ISR solutions for complex air, ground and naval missions from sensor to shooter. We are the centre of competence for ISR and air defence, battle management and real-time command & control. In our department we develop and maintain System Engineering Services & modelling and simulation solutions for integration support as well as for training of C4ISR and radar operators. Our solutions enable our customers to fulfil superior missions.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • C++ development.

  • HLSL (High Level Shader Language) development.

  • Presentation of findings.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student in the area of computer science, electrical engineering or an equivalent field of study.

  • Fluent in German and English.

  • C++ knowledge.

  • Unreal Engine experience.

  • Linear algebra knowledge.

  • Teamwork, analytical mindset.
