Head of Accounting

Job Description:

Job Summary:

NAVBLUE, an Airbus Company, is currently seeking a Head of Accounting to join our global team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Accounting is responsible for general ledger accounting, taxation and internal control for 4 legal entities in Canada, US, Sweden and UK and supervises accounts payable and payroll for the same entities. 

 

Responsibilities:

Supervision of the Accounting team

  • Coordinate and drumbeat all activities for Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Ledger Accounting for 4 legal entities (Canada, US, Sweden and UK)

  • Ensure the appropriate payrolls are prepared, reviewed and approved

  • Supervise, support and provide day-to-day management of the Accounting Group

  • Plan and manage resource needs and training of staff

  • Work with business to support accounting requirements

  • Liaise with taxation advisors to ensure accurate completion of tax returns for assigned legal entitiesEnsure all Government submissions are prepared accurately by the due dates

  • Liaise with external auditors and advisors as required; 

  • Manages annual audits for assigned entities from planning to delivery in due date  

Compliance

  • Develop, maintain and adhere to processes and procedures for the Group

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

  • Responsible for the overall internal control environment audit trail

 

Continuous improvement

  • Optimize and enhance the level, quality and utilization of staff through staff development and mentoring

  • Continuously evaluate and adopt best practices and tools

  • Implement new or improved processes, procedures, tools and systems

  • Establish and maintain Key Performance indicators to monitor operational efficiency 

  • Identify cost savings opportunities

Corporate Reporting & Consolidation

  • Coordinate the accounting entries, reporting of monthly results for the 4 legal entities into Airbus consolidated financial statements

  • Ensure accurate conversion of local currency General Ledger to the functional currency (Euro)

  • Prepares financial analysis for presentation to Senior Management and the Board of Directors of legal entities

  • Ensure all reporting requirements and deadlines are met

Education:

  • University degree in Accounting, Business or similar discipline

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, ACA or CGA)

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance and accounting environment 

  • Technology company experience is an asset; 

  • Skilled at leading a team and working collaboratively in a team environment 

  • Experience with statutory audits and accounting of multiple currencies 

  • Knowledge in process improvement and internal control documentation and implementation

  • Public company reporting/consolidation is an asset

  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities, ability to improve upon existing processes

  • Able to work with minimum supervision

  • Effective interpersonal skills; communication adaptable to all levels of the organization

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Proficient in common MS Excel functionality (i.e. basic formulas, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Experience in Google Sheets is an asset
