General Manager Strategy - Network Development and EV

Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office at minimum three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business and two times per week remote.

Your Role:

Accountable for spearheading the VSSM Strategy & Network Development organization, overseeing the creation and execution of a network strategy in line with growth objectives. Providing support to the MD, Commercial Operations in various tasks, including shaping future operating models, improving network performance, managing dealer relationships, overseeing FB management, EV projects, budgeting, analytics, market intelligence, CI development, and handling legal/compliance matters.

Develop an electric vehicle (EV) strategy and goals for the region, aiming to leverage both internal resources and external partnerships to establish a robust EV ecosystem, positioning General Motors as a frontrunner in the transition towards an all-electric future. Possess an ability to motivate and strategize, influencing the mindset of GM colleagues, management, dealers, industry stakeholders, and governmental bodies, thereby steering the transformation of GM and the entire automotive market from a focus on internal combustion engine (ICE) technology to EV dominance.

Lead a team of network development professionals and an ability to lead cross functional teams for transformation and change management.

What You'll Do:

Strategy Formulation & Market Insights:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive network Optimization strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives and market trends.
  • Identify potential growth areas, target markets, and dealership opportunities, considering regional nuances and customer preferences.
  • Identify Aftermarket Network/alliances using market trends and competitor’s study.
  • Collaborate with Managing Director, Commercial Operations to develop departmental strategies that align with the company's overall objectives.
  • Provide input on long-term goals, identifying growth opportunities, and mitigating potential challenges.
  • Lead/Assist Managing Director, Commercial Operations in activities related to future operation model that takes in consideration.
  • Lead Dealer profitability discussions with Dealer principles.
  • Ownership of obtaining and maintaining dealer network Midterm plans in both Sales and Aftersales.
  • Lead dealer sales and service agreement strategic updates from all respective department till signed and closed by dealer network.
  • Consolidate Sales and Aftersales annual objectives guidelines and manage e2e Dealer communication.
  • Formulate and improve fleet and trader guidelines including penalty process.

Network Optimization:

  • Identify and evaluate potential dealership partnerships, conducting feasibility assessments and aligning with the company's brand values.
  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions with new dealerships, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.

Performance Control:

  • Lead Network Development sales and Aftersales performance enhancement forums and projects.
  • Lead Network team in dealership collaboration activities to implement strategies for enhanced performance on both sales and aftersales.

Franchise Board (FB) and Dealership Relation Management:

  • Lead / Assist Managing Director for Commercial Operations in FB setup / organization.
  • Follow-up on FB sub committee’s activities and projects progress.
  • Act as a focal point of contact between GM management and FB committee members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing dealerships, fostering loyalty and collaboration.
  • Support maintaining Dealer profiles including shareholder information, scorecards, data breaches and key facts.
  • Prospect and onboard new dealerships, ensuring they align with the company's brand and values.
  • Address and resolve any dealer-related issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Ownership of budgets for sales network expansion efforts, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Contribute to sales forecasting based on market trends, historical data, and dealership feedback.
  • Ownership of CIB budget for commercial operations.

Data Analytics & Reporting:

  • Create forums to assist Managing Director for Commercial Operations in having snapshot of sales data, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to Managing Director for Commercial Operations management for informed decision-making.
  • Lead Sales Centre of Excellence and data insights for Sales department.
  • Report key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales and Aftersales network and individual dealerships.
  • Regularly analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the network and identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate insights and recommendations to Head of Network Development.
  • Consistently monitoring and maintaining the dealers score card that has the element of profitability, compliance, cooperation, and dealer strategic evaluation.
  • Track and monitor dealer annual objectives results and report Dealers in critical care.
  • Manage Country performance reviews

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, finance, Legal and other departments to ensure alignment and seamless execution of strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration to achieve shared business goals.

Market Intelligence:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market dynamics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Utilize market insights to refine the sales network strategy and tailor offerings to local market needs.

Compliance and Legal Matters:

  • Ensure dealerships adhere to legal and regulatory requirements in all aspects of their operations.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance standards and communicate relevant information to dealerships.

CX Development and Dealer Compliance:

  • Work on developing and implementing latest corporate CI.
  • Assess current dealer CI & maintain facilities database.
  • Support CX team in maintaining dealer standards.
  • Provide study on financial requirement for dealer network CI transformation.
  • Work with Dealer network on implementation of new CI.
  • Recommend and develop footprint optimization strategies.
  • Lead projects on CI compliance regular audits and propose actions for non-compliance.

AMEO EV Strategy & Growth

  • Leads AME EV Strategy, Innovation & Growth.
  • Leads AME Charging Infrastructure strategy.
  • Leads GM Energy and Ultify strategy exploration and execution in AMEO.
  • Leads EV related Adjacencies Exploration (e.g.CPO Aggregation, charging subscription, accessories, etc.)
  • Leads CX Customer Journey Design and Strategy for EV.
  • Participate in Cross-Functional Strategic Projects – E.g., Re-imagine KSA, dealer sales and service agreement.

EV Network Projects:

  • Gain Market insights locally and globally on network of the future design.
  • New sales showroom trends using technologies such as (metaverse AR/VR).
  • Online Sales and boutique showrooms.
  • Aftersales EV Service Centre Requirements.

Government / Industry EV Infrastructure and Ecosystem Collaboration

  • Leads EV Infrastructure Pro-Active Public Policy Initiatives with Government Relations team.
  • Lead Collaboration and Pilot Projects with Government and Industry Players in Public Charging Network.
  • Represent GM AME EVGro in External events or discussion forums.

Team Management & Communication

  • Develop internal and external workstreams to achieve desired EV Strategy and Aspiration and lead direct and cross functional team members to execute for success.
  • Manage and prioritize EV strategic initiatives to ensure timely and qualitative achievement of milestones across the organization.
  • Leveraging comprehensive strategy insights, market intel, advanced analytics, and state of the art tools to enable long term sustainable EV growth.
  • Lead EV internal and dealer communication forums to bring awareness and inspire to speed up EV adoption.
  • Lead, Grow and Develop AME EVGro direct and cross-functional team members.

Global Projects & Adjacencies

  • Support US and International EVGro Battery End of Life & Recycling led by Melissa Flaherty and team.
  • Represent AMEO in US EVGro TL Meeting and Forums.
  • Explore Hydrotec and other relevant technologies in GM portfolio.
