Flight Physics is responsible for the design and characterization for all military aircraft programs along their product life cycle. We use numerical simulations and testing to understand the aircraft behavior and to create and deliver aircraft representative data for flight performance, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, mass properties, acoustics and vibration.

A vacancy for a "Flight Physics -  PMT Engineer" (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Flight Physics. The successful applicant will join "TEYGI Integration & Strategy". TEYGI Integration & Strategy within Flight Physics Centre of Competence (CoC) is a German-Spanish engineering organization in Airbus Defence and Space – Aircraft and Systems. The organization is responsible for the flight physics deliverables for all Airbus Military Aircraft programmes and digitalization & technology.

In this role you will join the Digitalisation & Technology team and apply your knowledge and experience in Process, Methods and Tool (PMT) development to push Engineering capabilities to the next level of digitalisation. The successful candidate will not only deal with PMT for Flight Physics, but also for other CoCs included in the CIT-6 (Flight Physics, Stress Analysis and MDO, Systems, Materials and Processes, Conceptual Design).

Grading: EG11 - EG12 (if requirements are met)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the analysis of end-to-end workflows and dataflows within CIT-6, capturing gaps and opportunities for improvement in order to make processes leaner and more efficient

  • Contribute to the development of integrated solutions to support the end-to-end processes digitalisation

  • Support the definition of an optimum capability architecture (process, methods and tools architecture) in line with the Flight Physics Strategy and the PMT Architect implementation plan

  • Support and perform technologies, process, methods and tool developments within Flight Physics in close collaboration with the technical domains

  • Documentation and evidences for the process, methods and tools development and knowledge transfer to the essential stakeholders

  • Develop, prove, validate and deploy disruptive ways of solving problems in Flight Physics with a holistic approach. Challenge the status quo

  • Support to CIT-6 Management

Desired skills and qualifications

  • University degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent.

  • Extended experience in Engineering

  • Experience in overall aircraft design process (ARP 4754)

  • Specific knowledge in Physical Analysis domain tool environment (Flight Physics, Stress, Systems, etc.)

  • Good knowledge in overall configuration management and PLM systems

  • Good knowledge about BMS / DEVELOP and the related processes

  • System Engineering and Value Engineering knowledge is a plus

  • Excellent knowledge in continuous integration and tool developments and with a clear focus on business problems and have an entrepreneurial and pragmatic mindset

  • Keen on working in an international environment and with distributed team environment

  • Contribute to build an inclusive environment strengthened by trust, empathy and respect

  • English fluent, German language skills are advantageous
