We at Airbus Cabin Electronics in Buxtehude are responsible for the engineering, manufacturing and support of the cabin management and connectivity solutions for the Airbus aircraft programs. Within this context, the Software Engineering Team is responsible for developing and supporting high quality software products, satisfying customer needs for operating aircraft safely, securely, efficiently and contributing to an optimal crew and passenger comfort. Moreover, the team is working on the future generation of cabin software solutions, implementing state-of-the-art technologies, such as high-bandwidth connectivity, for a unique inflight experience.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer embedded Linux for Connectivity (d/f/m)

Your mains tasks and responsibilities :

As a member of an agile and multifunctional development team, you will be responsible for the developing and standardizing the software platform and applications of computers, displays and panels in the aircraft that are used by the cabin crew and passengers. The daily work will work will encompass:

  • Specifying software requirements based on the system specification

  • Support in creating software designs

  • Developing, testing and integrating (COTS) software components into a Linux-based software platform

  • Developing software parts in high level programming languages like Python and RUST

  • Assist Customer Support and for in service investigations for wireless services

  • Verification and validation of software components

  • Contribution to creation of software lifecycle documentation according to aviation rules and regulations

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our software development organization, processes and tools

  • Support coordinating subcontractors

Your educational background & experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information & Communication systems, Electrical Engineering or similar

  • You bring 1 to 3 years of experience in embedded software development and software integration, using common programming and scripting languages (e.g Java, Go, Python)

  • Experience with Linux, Network, Protocols and Virtualisation

  • Experience in the software configuration management process with extensive experience on at least one industry standard tool (e.g. GIT)

  • Knowledge of DO 178B or DO 178C will be greatly valued

  • Experience with agile and DevOps development practices and tools (CI/CD), (e.g Jira, Github, Jenkins) .
