What does this internship consist of?

Together with Camilo José Cela University, Airbus has developed an exclusive program (DISCOVER) designed for those interested in the best training in new areas of knowledge essential to be able to develop as professionals of the future.

You will have the opportunity to study a Master, organized in three training blocks, that will allow you to DISCOVER the skills most in demand today. It will be combined with an 11 month internship at Airbus in an area related to your degree, where you can learn and complete your academic background.

The start of the internship will be in early March 2024, and will last 11 months (August disabled for all purposes). It is a full-time experience (40h/week), in which you will receive an attractive study grant.

Job Description of the Internship:

This internship will bring the applicant an ultimate view on preliminary aircraft design, with the use of the latest capabilities and technologies to be applied in a multifunctional optimization loop. A special focus on the rear-part design of the Aircraft will be performed. The internship will be done within the Future Projects Department in Spain.

The candidate will work on several lines of research, like:

- Parametric aerodynamic studies using high level CFD of the rear fuselage and empennage of commercial aircraft in order to feed surrogate models for Multidisciplinary Design Optimization. 

- Finite Elements based structural optimization, both Topology and Sizing, applied to the design of large aircraft components.  Generation of aeroelastic loads using MSC/NASTRAN.  

- Development of automated design processes using Catia/3D Experience. Creation of generic templates to describe the geometry and structural arrangement of large aircraft components in a parametric manner, including the export of analysis models and associated metadata.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Recently graduates/Master students

- Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
- Negotiation level of English C1

- Spanish: negotiation level.
- General knowledge in aircraft preliminary design.
- Aerodynamics CFD, MSC/NASTRAN & CATIA knowledge are desired.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Team spirit and great collaboration skills.

- Ability to work in complex and international environments.
