Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently looking for a Data Science Manager to join their team in a Virtual role, to lead a team of 10-12 data scientists and data engineers in building and deploying AI models to improve internal processes and generate data-driven insights.

This role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, leveraging the power of AI to drive innovation and efficiency through enablement of AI Inside future across the entire Digital Aviation Solutions (DAS) organization.

A successful candidate for this role, will excel at collaborating closely with multiple levels of leadership, leading the team to define internal data and AI strategies alongside data analytics partners, identifying process opportunities, defining strategic plans and facilitating various workshops and problem-solving activities across a global business.  This role will require strategic and systemic thinking while also being able to influence leaders and motivate the team to address opportunities at speed and scale.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 10-12 data scientists and data engineers with diverse skillsets. Foster collaboration within the team and ensure effective communication.

  • Partner with various business units to understand their challenges and opportunities. Translate these needs into actionable data science projects for the team.

  • Prioritize data science projects based on their potential impact on business goals and feasibility.

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI models, ensuring they meet business requirements and deliver value.

  • Utilize LEAN principles to manage data science projects, focusing on iterative development, rapid prototyping, and efficient resource allocation.

  • Collaborate closely with process engineers and industrial engineers to ensure data science solutions integrate seamlessly with existing processes.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including business leaders, engineers, and data teams.

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of AI models, making adjustments as needed.

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science and AI, and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies within the organization.

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Strong understanding of data science concepts, machine learning algorithms, and their application to solve business problems.

  • Proven experience in leading the design, development, and deployment of AI models.

  • Experience in applying LEAN methodology to data science projects and SaaS product development.

  • Understanding of programming languages commonly used in data science (Python, R, etc.).

  • Experience working with data pipelines, data cleaning techniques, and best practices for data governance.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.

  • Experience in project management and the ability to track progress and meet deadlines.

  • Understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of AI models and their impact on business goals.

  • Demonstrates strong servant leadership attributes.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in aviation industry.

  • Familiarity with Kanban boards, Value Stream Mapping, and A/B testing.

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
