Position Summary

  • Identify, develop and implement control, instrumentation and systems strategies to maintain and improve assigned operating unit(s)
  • Work within the project environment to identify, design and implement process controls to meet project objectives
  • Evaluate and implement safety instrumented systems
  • Intermediate/Advanced level in internal subject matter in control systems (PLC, HMI, motion control systems), systems integration, sensors and electromechanical devices.
  • Validate the quality of engineering and automation controls according to the specified SOW.
  • Independently and with assistance from their manager seeks and implements opportunities to improve the performance of operating units and/or projects.
  • Work with the project team to troubleshoot automation issues, resolve project related problems, and develop fundamental understanding of requirements critical to the success of the system.
  • Evaluate options and determine the appropriate and required course of action to effectively resolve a problem or develop a project.
  • Help develop project objectives and determine project requirements.
  • Interface with integrators and/or machine/manufacturing cell manufacturers to successfully deliver fully integrated automation equipment to plants, within budget, and that meets customer needs.
  • Experience related to "hands-on" strong capabilities in the integration, installation and programming of robotics and PLC controlled systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the management of automation projects and management of personnel in charge. 
  • Staubli and ABB robot programming and commissioning experience.
  • Microsoft and design software such as AutoCad and SolidEdge.

Your Role

  • Integration, installation and programming of Fanuc robotics and Allen Bradley PLC controls systems. 
  • Conducting root cause investigations of control system problems and implementing measures for the resolution of production related engineering problems.                  
  • Working with suppliers to investigate manufacturing problems, formulating recommendations for changes and following up to ensure changes are implemented.
  • Communication with production planning, tooling design, industrial engineering, plant supervision, corporate engineering staff and operators to ensure that all are informed of system control problems, improvements and projects.
  • Provide electrical expertise and engineering controls in support of new equipment and systems introductions, continuous improvement, cost reduction, maintenance and productivity improvements.

Your Background

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Electronic, Automation, Mechanic, Mechatronic, Electric or related.
  • At least 3 years of experience in this or similar position.
  • English language 70% minimum.
