WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Are you passionate about driving innovation and maintaining high standards in automotive paint processes? Join our team as a Paint Process Engineer and work closely with the bespoke paint team on exciting and unique projects. You will provide crucial technical support and develop, maintain, and improve current quality standards and IATF (International Automotive Task Force) Audit compliance across our engineering and production departments.

 

In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving process improvements, focusing on defect prevention, waste reduction, and compliance with IATF quality standards. You will work to eliminate process variation using tools like Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC), all in line with JLR's procedures and standards.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Your responsibilities will include applying JLR procedures and standards, reviewing and updating PFMEA and control plans, and planning, developing, and implementing written processes. You will assess the process capability of all processes and equipment, ensuring adherence to Integrated Production System (IPS) deliverables. Managing technical issues, supporting internal and external audits, and providing technical and process support to the manufacturing paint application areas will also be key aspects of your role.

 

You will work independently with limited supervision, managing projects and supporting the development and trials for new effects, technologies, and innovations such as Duo tone, Faded duo tone, and coach lines. Your goal will be to ensure film build and appearance metrics are within specification, contributing to the continuous improvement and excellence of our paint processes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Relevant previous experience of Paint / Engineering processes, tools and techniques
  • Previous experience of paint application processes  
  • Demonstrable ability to create detailed and effective action plans
  • Demonstrable and experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving.
  • Working knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines & be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously
