ATR - EVO - Handling Qualities Engineer

Job Description:

Mission :

Within the Engineering Directorate, you will integrate the Flight Technologies department. In a small and dynamic team of engineers, a strong teamwork is requested to answer to the various challenges around handling qualities assessment for ATR products. The global objective is to support in-service ATR aircraft, flight dynamics contribution to the current developments but also the preparation of ATR product evolution towards a greener and more efficient aircraft. All this takes place in an environment continuously challenging your autonomy and adaptability, and your innovative spirit on how to continuously conciliate available means, customers’ expectations, certification authorities’ requirements and history of the ATR design

As a Handling Qualities engineer, you will work on various topics from preliminary design to in-service operations analyses, and participate to the feasibility study for the EVO project

Your main activities will be :

  • Perform handling qualities analyses in the frame of future projects, at pre-feasibility phase (stability, control, characteristic speeds, control surfaces sizing, flight envelope...).
  • Perform handling qualities analyses for new aircraft modifications, from the feasibility assessment to the production of certification reports (stability, control, characteristic speeds…).
  • Prepare the flight tests or simulator tests requests and analyze the results versus the certification requirements
  • Participate in the analysis of in service events for which a handling qualities evaluation is required
  • Answer technical and operational questions asked by customers (airlines, customer support, training center, safety…) on flight characteristics
  • Develop and improve methods and tools for the handling qualities team

Profile:

  • Master’s degree or engineering diploma in aeronautics.
  • Experience of at least 5 years in the domain of the flight dynamics and handling qualities
  • Basic/medium general knowledge of aircraft flight control systems
  • Good general knowledge of aircraft design and operation
  • Willingness to work with several disciplines, to be collaborative
  • Curiosity, willingness to grow and learn every day
  • Ability to adapt
  • Ability to present technical results and to convince
  • Fluent English,
  • French at least moderate, fluent is a plus
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Pilot license would be a plus.
