Airbus UpNext Internship 2024 - Airframe Validation, Verification & Flight Clearance Documentation (M/F)

Job Description:

At Airbus UpNext, we explore technology for sustainable, autonomous and connected applications in flight. By doing so, we are actively shaping the future of the aerospace industry.

We use demonstrators as the principal means of evaluating, maturing and validating new radical technological breakthroughs. We not only integrate and test the technology but help shape the foundations for infrastructure and flight regulations, enabling Airbus in its aim for a better-connected, safer and more prosperous world.

Our eXtra Performance Wing demonstrator using a Cessna Citation VII business jet platform, will test wing aerodynamics and performance to reduce future aircraft CO₂ emissions. Next step? The integration of some very special wings inspired by nature!

In 2024, after a first phase of flight test with legacy wings, we will be heavily modifying the aircraft, installing its new wings. The intern will be working within the airframe team to enable the flight test by compiling the complete airframe Flight clearance documentation

It will cover:

  • propose means of compliance versus CS25 basis

  • collect design / stress justification documents in the different airframe design teams (France, UK, Germany & Spain)

  • compile the document(s) that will be presented to authorities

  • propose presentations to support the communication to authorities

  • compile an internal return on experience & learning document

This internship is a unique opportunity to work with all airframe teams & safety/airworthiness specialists in Upnext as well as Airbus, learn about airframe design, stress and validation, and participate in this unique project by delivering key documents to allow flight tests.
