Accountant, Fixed Assets

Job Description:The Fixed Asset Accountant position applies accounting knowledge to ensure the accounting treatment for their assigned area is accurate and compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and established accounting policies. This position prepares journal entries and reconciliations of general ledger accounts and evaluates the results, identifying improvements. This position will have a primary focus in work related to production engineering for capital investment.

This position will validate transactions and reconcile accounts with strong attention to detail, applying accounting knowledge and time management skills in a fast-paced environment. In addition, this position will support the company by recording and validating periodic accounting transactions. The Fixed Asset Accountant works with various divisions of the Company including Operations, IT and the Finance department, as well as internal and external auditors.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Accounting Close - 30%

  • Prepare and record periodic journal entries by compiling and analyzing accounting information in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 
  • Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Meet reporting requirements of the financial statement audit and separate Parent Company consolidation statements.
  • Investigate and report capital investment progress.

Financial Transaction Processes - 30%

  • Documents financial transactions by entering accounting information. 
  • Responsible for supporting the company, operations and systems to ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded (interface validations, billings, collections, system research, reclasses, and other items as assigned).
  • Documents work processes and procedures.  Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes.
  • Investigate and report capital investment progress.

Financial Reporting and Analysis - 30%

  • Provide accurate, timely and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.    Assist with ad hoc requests. 
  • Participate in cross-training within the department, and cross-functional teams as requested.
  • Follows internal controls to maintain financial security. 
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by pursuing continuing education.
  • Work together with other MNAO departments to ensure timely data results. Report progress status, including challenges and improvement items weekly to management.

Audit - 10%

  • Assist with external and internal audits, including the preparation of required schedules, reconciliation reports, and fluctuation analyses. 
  • Substantiate financial transactions with auditing documents.
  • Assist with J-SOX related testing and compliance.

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

Education (Minimum):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business/Economics-related (or equivalent experience in corporate or public accounting)

Experience: 

  • Minimum one (1) year of Accounting experience; with bachelor’s degree
    • 3+ years (minimum) experience without degree preferred
  • SAP experience preferred.

Training/Certification

  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
    • Intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective communication across all levels in the organization.
  • Scheduling and time management skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a multicultural, diversified work environment.

Pay Range:

$59,300.00-$86,000.00

Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
