Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis

Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) will lead the budgeting and forecasting efforts for Corporate FP&A, Industry Products, and Platform organizations. We are seeking a leader to orchestrate our forecast, spend, and business analysis to drive business performance and lead value added financial analysis for strategic business initiatives. In addition to providing strategic financial guidance to our Product and Platform organizations, this role will oversee the Purchasing Programs and Operations team.

The VP, FP&A is also a key thought leader and partner to the CFO and CEO executive staff as we look to achieve our worldwide finance vision: to be the most insightful, innovative, digital and admired finance team in the industry as we guide Autodesk’s growth journey as a customer company.  The future of finance is real and we’re looking for a strategic, executive finance leader to help make it a reality.

The right candidate for this role will demonstrate a strategic mindset, excellent executive presence, cross functional collaboration skills and strong financial planning process & system experience. This role requires dexterity to work at multiple levels, including high level strategy and insights thinking to disciplined processes leadership of complex planning cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Own, manage, and orchestrate the roll-up for Corporate FP&A, including the full Autodesk P&L forecast. Partner with CFO and Investor Relations in quarter-end reporting and guidance-related activities.

  • In partnership with peers, drive the connected planning and forecasting process for Autodesk.

  • Manage and provide finance engagement to our Industry Product and Platform organizations, partnering with senior leaders responsible for our products and services.

  • Ensure Autodesk product and platform organizations support continuing long-term growth and health, through sound strategy and strong execution.

  • Take a leadership role in supporting the company’s product growth, investments, and performance.

  • Oversee and contribute to key financial & planning metrics and milestones for the company in connection with the strategic and annual planning process, including related requisite modeling and sensitivity analysis.

  • Responsible for the operating expenses of product and platform organizations. Ensure we operate within approved spending levels, and drive productivity improvements throughout the organization.

  • Provide critical decision-making support regarding the allocation and monitoring of investment funds which may become available from time to time to accelerate future growth.

  • Drive ad hoc analysis critical to maximizing the effectiveness of the product and platform organizations in the near, medium and long-term.

  • Analyze business results, providing deep insight into on-going trends and performance.

  • Manage, train and develop Product and Platform finance talent. Serve as an active mentor and role model across the Autodesk organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experienced leader and financial executive with 15+ years of broad, results–driven finance experience, specifically in a financial planning & analysis function, ideally in a large public software company.

  • Strong accounting and financial planning process and systems leadership experience with a proven track record of excelling in high-performance, analytic and data-driven cultures.

  • Skilled at working across multiple levels, including high level strategy and insights thinking to disciplined processes leadership of complex planning cycles.

  • Innovative & creative mindset.

  • Proven track record of financial systems, process & tools improvement/automation.

  • Strong people leader with proven experience managing large, global teams at scale and a demonstrated track record of building & elevating high performing teams

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively & influence across all levels of leadership

  • MBA and/or CPA certification preferred

  • Ability to travel at least ~20% of the time

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $296,000 and $407,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
