Traffic & Shipping Coordinator

The Traffic and Shipping Coordinator is responsible for managing all domestic freight shipments at Dynapower, a Sensata Technologies company, and supporting the compliance and logistics teams by ensuring adherence to transportation regulations. This role involves planning and executing logistics processes for dispatch, tracking, and managing shipment bookings, maintaining accurate records and costs,

Essential Functions

  • Customer Service: as an integral part of the team, ensure that customers are highly regarded and receive exceptional service throughout the flow of order processing, including readying loads for shipment and managing the inbound and outbound warehouse traffic.
  • Planning, arranging, and negotiating all modes of transportation; preparing transportation schedules; researching and comparing transportation options; negotiating transportation rates; identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide freight quotations as needed.
  • Scheduling, dispatching, and tracking shipments; scheduling transportation of goods, products, and materials.  Processing transportation documentation such as packing lists, bills of lading, work orders and shipping orders; tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery and proper handling; working with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Developing, implementing, and improving transportation policies and procedures. Develop and implement transportation programs and strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs, monitoring transportation costs.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to optimize business performance, transportation services and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinating insurance to ensure proper coverage for all shipments.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with claims for short-shipments and damaged shipments, file freight claims for reimbursement.
  • Maintain records of transportation activities.  Generate reports detailing transportation metrics and performance.
  • Manage invoicing and billing for transportation services.
  • Train new employees
  • Assist in loading and unloading merchandise from the trucks, inspecting the items for defects and inconsistencies, and moving the products into safe storage areas.
  • Compliance: ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies and safety standards.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in transportation management, logistics, project management, or similar, preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a transportation specialist in a related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software.
  • Superb leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Experience with international shipping and customs regulations
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to provide operational support outside of business hours.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level in the professional office environment and manufacturing floor.
