Senior Software Engineer

DRIVE AN ACCELERATION TOWARDS ZERO EMISSIONS IN TRANSPORTATION THROUGH BETTER POWER ELECTRONICS.

This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment, Vehicle Electrification Systems business unit.

Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Firmware/Software Engineer that will be located in Shanghai, China.

This position is a critical embedded software engineering role within our recently formed Vehicle Electrification Systems group focused on delivering technical breakthroughs, industry leading products, and commercial success through our power electronics investments.

As digital control firmware DSP engineer of power electric product, you will play a key role in the design of our first product. Your design will ensure that our products have a unique selling proposition that lives up to the strategy and stand the test of time. You will be at the heart of every design decision and advance not just your skills, but the power electronics field.  

Through system integration and innovation, we strongly believe that there is an opportunity deliver more power electronics performance, efficiency and value as OEMs develop their next generation EV and PHEV offerings to fulfill consumer demand that we can further accelerate. Responsibilities:

  • Participate in software architecture design and implementation
  • Owns key power electronics real time control requirements, source code, software implementation and test
  • Develop software component testing methodologies and implementations to ensure maturity/reliability
  • Design with ISO-26262 and ASPICE awareness, compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional team
  • Document requirements, software design and test procedures/results
  • Lead the performance measurement, analysis, reporting and optimization of the interactions between software and hardware resources on embedded system
  • Develop dynamic models of the system, and tune controller algorithms accordingly to optimized performance
  • Translate algorithms into software implementation, and work with hardware and system team for software integration
  • Manage a firmware/software team for power electronics product development, software architecture design and implementation and own power electronics real time control requirements, source code, software implementation and test
  • Develop software component testing methodologies and implementations to ensure maturity/reliability and design with ISO-26262 and ASPICE awareness, compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements.

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ firmware/software experience with high voltage power electronics product  development – DCDC converter/OBCs/inverters/UPS for industrial or aerospace or military drives, battery electric or hybrid electric vehicle systems
  • Strong communication skills that translate the benefits of technical decisions in your field to colleagues, management, and other stakeholders, including customers
  • Experience with model-based design methods and strong hands-on coding, testing and troubleshooting skills

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree or PhD majoring in power electronics from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) plus years’ firmware/software experience with high voltage power electronics product development
  • Three (3) plus years PFC and/or LLC/CLLC firmware/software development experience
  • Power electronics hardware development experience
  • Experienced with electric vehicle power conversation technologies, model based developments and HIL
  • Hands on experience with power electronics product control system development, digital control implementation, signal process, PID controller optimization and sensor technologies
  • Experience with CAD tools: circuit and behavioral simulation (SPICE, Plecs/PSIM, Saber, Matlab/Simulink)
  • Familiar with safety and compliance standards for automotive and grid-connected power electronics
  • Strong Trade off analysis and experience with hardware software interface and requirements
  • Software module functional safety and DFMEA
