POSITION:  Senior Semiconductor Applications Engineer

LOCATION:  Detroit, Michigan

RECRUITMENT SALARY RANGE: $92,000 - $115,000

Reporting to the Semiconductor Applicatinos Manager, you will be leading the strategic design, development, and selection of one or more of the following technologies: MCUs, SoCs, memory, HV applications, and communication semiconductors.  This high-performance Senior Engineer will be depended on for leading efforts to define semiconductor requirements and for building strong partnerships with internal team members responsible for SDV architecture semiconductor release, commercial negotiations, electronic control unit (ECU) design as well as semiconductor IDMs and fabrication partners.  You will also be depended on to support the team in executing strategic plans relative to semiconductors deployment within the area of their responsibility.

  • Build partnerships and work closely with functional peers across SDV architecture, ECU engineering, in-vehicle communication, ADAS and IVI architecture, Systems and Software engineering, and purchasing to establish enterprise SoC, MCU, memory, serial /wireless communications, power distribution, or HV BEV semiconductors’ strategic roadmap and sourcing strategy.
  • Establish strong understanding of MCU, SoC, memory, communication semiconductors’ design/fabrication, product portfolio, supply chain and technology roadmap.
  • Provide technical support to commercial and supply chain teams to create and execute an agile and robust semiconductor supply chain strategy.
  • Develop written specifications for semiconductor selection, design, fabrication of semiconductors within scope of responsibility, enabling sourcing teams to facilitate on-time sourcing activities.
  • Lead all discussion with semiconductor partners, IDMs to execute an enterprise-wide semiconductor selection strategy and future roadmap.
  • Performing other duties as required

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:

 

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of ECU design, architecture definition, semiconductor selection, performance evaluation, or software system architecture definition in an automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of the latest automotive MCU/SoC/memory/serial and wireless communication semiconductor microarchitectures and protocols.
  • Experience or understanding of HV BEV power architectures.
  • Experience or understanding of prototype evaluation, debug, and testing.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional demonstrated experience leading projects to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to learn quickly.
