What you'll do

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to develop advanced control strategies and features for EV propulsion applications
  • Transient simulation of electric machine and inverter controls to validate the new control strategies and features in various mission profiles
  • Firmware development to implement new control strategies and features on automotive inverters to demonstrate the performance up to TRL6
  • Interface with hardware designers to identify opportunities for cost reduction and safety improvement
  • Horizon-scanning for emerging power electronic control technologies to increase the power density and efficiency while minimizing the cost
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations for progress update and reviews

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Mechatronics with 7+ years’ experience working with power converters and the controls
  • Candidates with higher qualifications but less experience will also be considered
  • Sound knowledge with power electronic control including PWM modulation methods, machine drive and digital controller implementation
  • Sound knowledge with microcontrollers and the peripheral circuits including PWM, ADC, encoder, SPI etc
  • Good knowledge with modern control theories and control loop performance tuning
  • Good knowledge with AC/DC power converter topologies such as two level and multi-level and the related digital control methods
  • Good knowledge with transient modelling of electric machine and power converters with considerations of the realistic non-linearities
  • Fluent with simulation tools including Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, PLECS and/or PSIM
  • Good experience with ADC converters, analogue/digital filtering techniques and digital signal processing
  • Problem-solving spirit with self-motivation and open-mindedness
  • Good English spoken and written skills
