Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Manager of Boeing Global Engagement – Central Region to join our team in Berkeley, MO.

Boeing Global Engagement is responsible for the development and execution of enterprise giving strategies and community investment plans. The function leads employee community engagement opportunities and supports Boeing’s Employees Community Fund. The BGE team also serves as subject matter experts for local community issues and provides recommendations to ensure effective and impactful community engagement.

As a manager of this team, you will lead efforts that establish and manage relationships with community and business partners by networking, sharing information, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and philanthropic investment in order to maximize impact in the Central Region and promote Boeing as a good corporate citizen. You will support the needs of the business and the community by investing in strategically aligned programs with nonprofit organizations and supporting employee community engagement activities. Based in St. Louis, you will work in partnership with the State & Local Government Operations team in the Central Region, collaborating on leveraging investments with elected officials and other stakeholders including Boeing employees. You will also be responsible for overseeing personnel and community engagement at sites located in Oklahoma City, Colorado, and Utah.

This position manages employees developing corporate citizenship strategies and community relationships, including the analysis of community needs and development/implementation of investment plans consistent with company objectives. You will develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provide input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives. You will acquire resources for department activities, provide technical management of community engagement and lead process improvement for the function. You will also be asked to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

Position Responsibilities:

Community Investment:

  • Develop actionable and measurable community investment plans that align to corporate strategies, and ensure effective investments of company resources
  • Lead Boeing’s charitable grant process for your region
  • Define, develop, and execute effective evaluation criteria and methodology for charitable grants issued
  • Develop approval justifications for all recommended charitable grants that specifically detail how the grant aligns to appropriate focus area strategy and supports the Boeing brand
  • Evaluate nonprofit operation and financial data, and assess organizational effectiveness
  • Work with the senior director, BGE, Central Region and Strategy & Programs to allocate the business sponsorship budget in accordance with BGE strategy
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for employee community engagement
  • Support the executive board placement process
  • Support the Employees Community Fund of Boeing, a separate non-profit organization run by an employee Chapter Grantmaking Committee
  • Represent Boeing at sponsored community events; which may be outside of normal business hours

Community Advocacy:

  • Convene internal and external partners to collaborate and appropriately leverage charitable resources
  • Identify how community involvement can support business objectives
  • Lead collaborative efforts with community leaders in order to promote Boeing’s brand and maximize the company’s corporate citizenship impact
  • Represent the company as needed on corporate citizenship related issues across the region
  • Foster and leverage relationships with community leaders

Site/Business Integration:

  • This position requires significant cross-functional collaboration and cooperation with site leaders, Communications, State & Local Government Relations, Human Resources,
  • Ethics, Higher Education, Boeing subsidiaries and other organizations.
  • Travel to support sites in the Central Region where Boeing and its subsidiaries have a significant presence is required as well as periodic travel to attend functional meetings.
  • Attendance is expected at community events and functions that may occur after business hours and on weekends.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in cross-functional leadership, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • 5+ years of experience creating executive level presentations using Word, Power Point and Excel
  • 5+ years of experience leading assessment and collaborative resolution of complex cross functional technical issues amongst multiple diverse stakeholders
  • 3+ years of experience developing & implementing charitable giving strategies
  • 3+ years of experience with executive strategic partnership as it pertains to managing grant programs

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience working with non-profit organizations and/or at community engagements
  • 3+ years of experience funding nonprofits and managing charitable grants
  • 3+ years of experience working on grassroots advocacy programs on behalf of industry or specific programs and/or legislation
  • 3+ years of experience with skill-based volunteering
  • Experience working with elected officials
  • Experience supporting underserved communities
  • Experience in evaluating nonprofit 990 data
  • Existing relationships with business and community leaders within the region

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $160,650 - $217,350
