Senior HIL Specialist - ADAS

Job Description

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at the Markham, ON office of General Motors, with the expectation that the employee will be onsite 3 days a week on average.

The successful candidate will be on the forefront of realistic automotive simulation environments which allows for faster development cycles for our active safety vehicles. The candidate will be able to integrate HIL simulation models with real ECUs based on closed loop simulation requirements. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with integration and troubleshooting tools related to CAN and Ethernet. There will be a heavy emphasis on being able to keep up to speed on new and evolving technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integration and validation of dynamic simulation models for HIL real-time closed loop simulation framework

  • Design, develop and integrate serial data communication models (CAN, LIN and Ethernet) based on simulation architecture

  • Work closely with bench users, HIL model development engineers & ECU SW development engineers to understand requirements and to make sure the HIL bench meets the requirements with high quality

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting/monitoring tools like CANoe, INCA and Lauterbach

  • Troubleshoot HIL bench issues related to CAN, Ethernet and LIN protocol

  • Ability to automate simple repetitive tasks on the bench using Python or any other programming language

  • Improving robustness and useability of the HIL benches

  • Writing internal documentation for new HIL benches and existing simulation tools and assets

  • Plan, communicate and co-ordinate HIL model rollout to support application and features as requested by bench users

  • Ensure deliverables are complete as per milestones with excellence

  • Identify and implement areas of efficiency of process and the product when scaling up

Additional Job Description

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar field.

  • 8+ years of working experience with HIL bench integration or HIL Simulation platforms

  • Real-time simulation experience and knowledge of dSPACE or other HIL platforms

  • Experience with automotive embedded controls software integration and testing

  • Familiarity with simulation tools like Carsim/Carmaker/ASM & VIRES

  • Familiarity with testing tools such as INCA, Lauterbach, VSpy or CANoe

  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C/C++ or other scripting languages

  • Knowledge of Controls theory & Simulink modelling

  • Experience working with Scrum/Agile software development process and tools

  • Results driven individual with high levels of initiative, urgency and pro-activity

  • Able to work in a team as well as independently

  • Must possess excellent communication skills
