POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the effective and efficient set up and operation of the reflow line that applies solder strip(s) to the base material.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work from process sheets, production orders, and verbal instructions to determine specification such as materials to be used, tool sets required, and dimensions and tolerances.
- Issue the necessary materials to the Production Order using barcode tags and scanners
- Mount the required flux applicator and solder guides onto the machine according to process sheet and specifications.
- Load solder and coils of copper onto machine and guide material through to take up reel.
- Adjust flames on burners to melt solder onto the strip and turn on water to start chilling process.
- Set the required Skive tool to Skive (shave) the solder to specified dimensions.
- Start machines, monitor operations and quality of product throughout process, and record operational data.
- Use hoists to move completed coils of material onto skids or other holding area for transfer to other processing areas.
- Report completion of the job and return any excess materials back to the supervisor for inventory return.
- Monitor condition of equipment and process control devices to ensure proper working order; clean and lubricate machines as necessary.
- Inspect and examine completed work for defects and fix flaws.
- Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers.
- Identify malfunctions, process problems and unusual conditions and report such situations to supervisor.
- Take active role in the analysis and troubleshooting process to correct problems.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and keep work area clean in accordance with specified rules and regulations.
- Adhere to EMS and IATF 16949 Policies and Procedures.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work effectively with internal/external personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and comprehend process sheets and instructions.
- Ability to move hands quickly to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Ability to operate hoists, and dollies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; or graduation from a technical/trade school.
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years’ experience as a machine operator working in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Must have good basic computer skills.
- Must know how to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.
- Must have good basic math skills and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

The employee is frequently required to use hands, handle or feel. The employee must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision. Employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals.
