Product Marketing Manager

Job Description

The ideal candidate for the Product Marketing Manager position embodies the maverick mindset and is driven to engage consumers in the products we sell.  Bringing a growth mindset, this position will lead the development of our vehicle nameplates to drive value to our business.  Partnering with groups such as Customer Experience, Digital Business Teams, Product, Network & Distribution and Design, this position will collaborate with leaders across GM to redefine the way consumers see our products.  This position requires someone who is an innovator beyond any category.  A progressive track record with a proven ability to lead change, collaborate across all functions, and effectively prioritize in an ambiguous / fast-paced environment is a must. 

Key Responsibilities

 

Develop and manage the product launch plan for an all EV portfolio, leveraging consumer insights and competitive opportunities to guide development of market strategy/tactics.

 

Including the following:

 

  • Develop customer targets, product content, pricing, and pricing recommendations to maximize assigned programs’ VP and share in the assigned market.
  • Serve as SME of assigned products/segments to the organization. Provide guidance to develop a portfolio approach for marketing management
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to ensure appropriate vehicle content (packages, technology, features, interior, etc.) based on the target consumer and positioning
  • Develop an annual lifecycle plan leveraging a suite of EV products events
  • Develop monthly go-to-market plan recommendation in partnership with sales operations including sales forecast, production recommendation, and promotion requirements
  • Assume leadership role in developing content for product training
  • Provide carline direction on creative work in terms of scope, key messages, and customer target
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to identify customer needs, develop initial model/content strategy, and identify product wins for communications
  • Engage with Order Fulfillment and Sales Operations in managing product distribution strategy and tactics
  • Ensure accuracy and effective messaging in all consumer communications, internal communications, press releases, and order guides
  • Secure the overall competitiveness of the product especially residual value

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Automotive product experience
  • High level of diverse marketing experiences required
  • Ability to make quick decisions with incomplete or ambiguous data. Able to make sound decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Ability to make/recognize effective trade-off decisions and can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups, can win concessions without damaging relationships.
  • Ability to break down barriers and quickly achieve high impact progress within a bureaucratic organization. Ability to work well in a complex team environment and marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done; uses resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Highly effective presentation skills in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups with peers and bosses, inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect
  • Ability to travel
