Lithia & Driveway | Principal Software Engineer 

We’re looking for a skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead key software initiatives, mentor engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable applications. In this role, you’ll drive technical excellence, provide hands-on support to mission-critical projects, and contribute to the growth and strength of our organization. You’ll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a pivotal role in shaping our technical roadmap.

Location: Remote (Pacific Time Zone)

Compensation: $100,000-$200,000

We offer a competitive starting wage that is based on a variety of factors, including the specific role, experience, qualifications, skill set, and education. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Software Architecture team to define and execute our technical roadmap.
  • Add velocity to mission-critical features by seamlessly integrating into Agile teams and processes.
  • Champion exceptional code quality and robust application architecture for Single Page Applications, component libraries, and backend microservices.
  • Mentor and train engineers to foster growth and uphold high standards of software development.
  • Act as an ambassador for the engineering organization within the company and the broader tech community.
  • Partner with Engineering Leadership to enhance software development practices and engineer development strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Delivery teams to streamline processes and achieve better outcomes.
  • Provide technical oversight to near-shore partners.
  • Lead initiatives to build and maintain core infrastructures for internal frontend applications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience shipping and supporting high-scale, high-performance web applications in a cloud environment.
  • Expertise in web application architecture, scalability, performance optimization, reliability, deployment, monitoring, and security.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript (React), TypeScript, Next.js, CSS, and HTML.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Auth0, Material UI, Storybook, Node.js, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
