Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire design process from concept to delivery, ensuring the completed design package meets mechanical design principles and company requirements.
- Collaborate with the design team to create innovative product designs and chosen design concepts.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including computer renderings, 3D models, and presentations.
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure document control.
- Liaise with safety agencies such as UL to ensure safety compliance.
- Conduct studies, criteria specification evaluations, and integrated systems analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel and vendors for producing the product.
- Carry out in-field assessments to determine mechanical suitability and associated analyses.
- Ensure designs adhere to regulations, standards, and codes and consider current manufacturing capabilities.
- Participate in project management, including developing cost estimates and testing plans.
- Write and edit reports detailing evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, recommendations, and conclusions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the production personnel and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience in prototype management, developing work instructions, and cross-discipline problem solving.
- Strong mechanical background with a focus on sheet metal parts and refrigeration systems.
- Proficiency in Solid Edge and SolidWorks.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical design principles and the design process.
- Demonstrated experience in BOM creation and document control.
- Familiarity with safety compliance and liaising with safety agencies.
- Experience in project management, testing, and associated analyses.
- Ability to write and edit technical reports and manuals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
