Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Liaison Engineer to join the Space Launch System program at the Louisiana Michoud Assembly Facility OR Florida Space Station Process Facility Vertical Assembly Building, which are facilities owned by NASA.  Boeing works at these sites to build the largest rocket in history in the world.  The project will eventually take the world to Mars.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Apply broad knowledge of Boeing design and engineering principles.
  • Assess and resolve product and process issues through the product lifecycle.  Develop and implement product and process improvement.
  • Lead research of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and design interim and final engineering solutions.  Lead development of interim and final solutions.
  • Lead others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis, and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.
  • Address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations.
  • Analyze reported problems for potential safety issues; recommend and manage complex resolution.
  • Provide design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
  • Represent the engineering community in the build through postproduction environment.
  • Ensure supplier and build partner are compliant with Boeing standards.
  • Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Lead and support activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigations.
  • Design appropriate jacking and shoring schemes.
  • Lead the design of interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis.
  • Develop and lead non-destructive test procedures, tools, and standards.
  • Develop and implement technical training curriculum for internal and external customers.

This position is expected to be fully onsite in New Orleans, LA OR Kennedy Space Ctr.  Location is your one time choice.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience with Material Review Board / Liaison Engineering (MRB / LE) Authority (including participating in Material Review Board and Integrated Product Team activities related to aircraft structures).
  • Willing to work alternating shifts, holidays, and weekends to support customer’s needs.  

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of repair concepts including repair station processes, component repair concepts, procedures, and warranty processes and contractual agreements.
  • Production Engineering Experience on the Space Launch Systems Program.

Typical Education/Experience:

Lead (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range:

Lead (level 4): 113,050 – 152,950

Lead (level 5): 144,500 – 195,500
