Position Overview

As an AI in AEC Researcher Intern within Autodesk Research you will play a pivotal role in visioning and executing an AI-driven pipeline using real-world, multi-modal and unstructured data for material circularity in the context of existing buildings.

You will be working alongside an applied research team within Autodesk Research with industry expertise in architecture, computer science, and construction and you will develop AI prototypes, recommend data collection strategies and have the opportunity to impact future software solutions as well as showcase the work internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Work with limited and multi-modal data for inferences about existing building’s potential for material reuse

  • Iteratively develop and test prototypes and present successes and failures

  • Create code repositories, compelling visuals, and documentation of prototypes

  • Define use cases and industry applicability of developed solutions

  • Present the results of your research internally at the end of the internship

  • Publish a peer-reviewed paper through an external conference within AI and/or AEC domain

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, Master’s or Ph.D in AI, Computer Science, Architecture or related field [with an expected graduation date in 2026

  • Experience with problems related to existing buildings and AEC industry design processes

  • Familiarity with Machine Learning/Data Science concepts and experience working with libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow

  • Programming experience in Python and integration with AEC industry 3D modeling software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data collection and data processing using computer vision and sensors

  • Experience with Vision Language Models and model training approaches

  • Experience with Scan2BIM workflows and managing point cloud data

  • Experience with GIS data

  • Experience writing clear technical material

About the US Intern Program

The 2025 U.S. program runs for 12 weeks (May 19 – August 8 or June 16 – September 5). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. Salary Transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience, educational level, and geographic location, and can exceed this range.

For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting annualized intern base salary to be between:

  • $47,840 and $95,680 (undergraduate students)
  • $72,800 and $118,500 (Masters/MBA students)
  • $118,560 and $162,240 (PhD students)
