Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Electronics & Electrical Engineering Design Engineer to join our Phantom Works Weapons Mission Systems (MS) Capability team in Saint Charles, MO., to design and integrate avionics/antennas into future advanced weapon systems. The mission avionics will perform the guidance, navigation, and control functions of the vehicle, as well as handle all communication and data storage for all avionics components. The avionics will collaborate with the host aircraft and components including: antennas, IMU, Seeker/Sensor, GPS Receiver, Control Actuation System, Power Controller, Datalink Radio, and more.

Position Responsibilities:

The position is in a fast paced, innovative environment that necessitates excellent technical and organizational leadership, professional written and spoken communication, and active listening.  You will interact with subject matter experts, customers, and industry partners in a collaborative multi-engineering environment and manage suppliers. 

  • Develop requirements and design antenna systems

  • Design interfaces to other avionics components

  • Develop system and subsystem models in a model-based system engineering framework

  • Analyze and translate requirements into system architecture and interface specifications

  • Work with security and Anti-Tamper teams to satisfy program requirements

  • Provide technical coordination with external suppliers and customers

  • Develop and validate requirements for complex sensor systems and components

  • Travel required up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experienced (Level 3) Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 3+ years of related work experience or PhD and related work experience

  • Lead (Level 4) Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 7+ years of related work experience or PhD and 4+ years of related work experience

  • Senior (Level 5) Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 12+ years of related work experience or PhD and 9+ years of related work experience

  • Minimum 3 or more years of experience in systems engineering performing system architecture development, systems integration, and/or hardware/software design and analysis

  • Minimum 3 or more years of experience working directly with suppliers or supplier management

  • Experience in RF (Radio Frequency) theory and application

  • Willing and able to travel domestically 10% of the time

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range (experienced, level 3): $96,050 - $129,950

Summary pay range (lead, level 4): $119,850 - $162,150

Summary pay range (senior, level 5): $143,650 - $194,350
