JOB TITLE: Cosmetic Quality Lead Engineer
LOCATION: Budapest

This role will involve working on the launch of exciting new products, delivering to world-class quality expectations. Working as part of Body Engineering, and cross-functionally, you will be responsible for; component appearance approval, exterior colour harmony, interior component harmony and cosmetic quality standards.
WHAT TO EXPECT

- Arrange and conduct vehicle-level Colour Harmony assessment events for exterior paint and interior trim. Issue harmony reports and drive the improvements required to meet customer expectations by managing supplier maturation actions
- Create and publish vehicle-specific Cosmetic Quality Standard Manuals (CQSMs) for Body Engineering areas such as Seating, Steering Wheels, Door Trim, Instrument Panel and Console as part of new vehicle launch
- Lead cross-functional team including; Lead Component Engineers, Suppliers, Design, Company Quality and Purchasing to deliver maturation of components and assemblies to meet JLR standards and customer expectations
- Appearance Approval Reports (AARs) involving component-level inspection and sign-off, management of the AAR database, liaison with suppliers for part submissions and escalation to cross-functional teams for deviations against standards
- Compile and maintain A-surface component lists for future vehicle programmes for AAR tracking, comprising part details, materials, colours and submission dates. Liaison with Design, Component Lead Engineers and Programme Team for part information
- Weekly programme status reporting and collating of metrics from Surface Material team activities. Reporting out and representing the team at programme meetings and product launch reviews. Escalation and management of issues
- AAR lab management: calibration of equipment, management of physical master samples and database, AAR submissions
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
- 5+ years experience in relevant roles and responsibilities
- Experience in programme or project management, meeting demanding timescales, with cost-effective delivery
- Ability to confidently identify and classify surface cosmetic and colour defects on different surface materials and surface-treated parts
- Ability to drive the resolution of technical issues (and associated business cases), interface directly and lead activities with cross-functional teams
- Degree level qualification, ideally with an Engineering or related degree
- A valid driver’s licence. The role will require regular travel - it is therefore expected that candidates will be able to drive
- The applicant must be able to pass a colour vision test
- Working knowledge of 6-Sigma and problem-solving tools
- Experience with, or technical knowledge of, automotive paint and exterior colour harmony processes
- Experience with, or technical knowledge of, injection moulding, chroming and painting processes is preferable
- Knowledge of the Appearance Approval Process and experience working in the Automotive Industry is preferable
