Calibrator and Instructor for Automotive Calibrations Class

Hennessey Performance Engineering and Tuner School is seeking a full-time, high performance Automotive Calibrator to also support as an Instructor with professional experience in high performance automotive calibrations.

In this position you will work on the calibrations team at HPE and support our teaching staff as an additional Calibrations instructor for our 200 – Advanced Tuning Program focusing on aftermarket performance calibrations and light mechanical, performance upgrades in our Tuner School lab. This person would need an excellent working knowledge of HP Tuners software along with aftermarket stand-alone systems such as Holley EFI. They will need in-depth knowledge and the ability to tune OEM Ford, Dodge and GM performance vehicles. This role will also work with our other Tuner School Instructors and staff, assisting in the 100 Automotive Technology – Introduction to High Performance Program and lab working on the school owned vehicles.

Applicants should have experience in aftermarket Automotive Calibrations, HP Tuners software, aftermarket stand-alone EFI software, handheld tuning devices, safe chassis dyno operation, engine and transmission dynamics and performance parts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist/Backup to Instructing 200 – Advance Tuning class and lab
  • Assist in Calibrations for Hennessey Performance
  • Assisting 100 - Automotive Technology – Intro to High Performance class and lab
  • Automotive tuning and calibration in a live classroom environment
  • Safely operating and testing vehicles on in-house chassis dynamometers
  • Adherence & Focus on Safety
  • Following Program procedures and daily standards of operating
  • Effective Communication

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as Automotive Calibrator
  • Some experience teaching
  • Knowledge of high-performance engines and automobiles in all areas
  • Knowledge on power adders
  • Ability to problem solve and navigate proper, effective solutions
  • Local and able to drive to our campus in Sealy, TX, Monday through Friday

Required Education:

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
