Valeo is looking for Legal Counsel to join its North American Legal team to provide strategic and
timely counsel on a broad range of legal issues for Valeo’s Mexico operations. The candidate will
support Valeo at the Division and Regional levels, reporting to the General Counsel for North
America. This position will be located in San Luis Potosi or Querétaro, Mexico.
You will keep regional management informed of legal issues impacting the region
You will manage corporate record keeping and governance at the regional letter
You will advise and counsel site management on legal issues including the purchase and
sale of goods and services, real estate, regulatory matters, and litigation
You will be responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide-variety of transactional
documents, including purchasing and sales terms and conditions, NDAs, development
agreements, leases, and other agreements
You will be responsible for monitoring and advising management on applicable local
regulations and compliance issues
You will manage outside counsel relationships, budgeting and spending with an emphasis on
obtaining high quality legal services at a competitive cost.
You will analyze and explain complex legal issues and risks to members of the regional and
Local Legal teams and commercial teams and propose pragmatic and practical solutions
You will establish procedures and guidelines regarding template agreements and processes
to maximize productivity
You will work with your North American counterparts to develop and deliver training on
relevant legal topics
You will oversee and manage all litigation matters in your region in conjunction with global
counterparts
You will draft, update and review standard and non-standard contract documents
You will ensure that the Group’s legal policies and procedures are respected throughout your
region
You will develop and communicate legal policies and internal procedures, as necessary
You will ensure corporate files are properly maintained
What You Should Have
You must have a law degree from a Mexican university and be licensed to practice law and
in good standing in Mexico
You have 7-10+ years of experience with a combination of law firm and in-house experience
(automotive preferred)
You are fluent in English
You have the ability to travel domestically and internationally, as necessary
